Topic: torq's m-audio soundcard works with vdj ; -D

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

@ torq ... :P lol here's my story ...

i just got back from Detroit visiting my kids ... again..lol; anyway the last time i was there i ran into an old friend I used to d.j with so we hooked up and did a homecoming for a High school (Kettering aka K.E)he had pre booked. (we havent seen each other in about three years before this but @ the bar we were known as the dynamic duo ..he called me the scratch master and himself the mixmaster)anyways I askd what equipment he was using and he said american dj set-up like i used to have ;so i convinced him to lemme bring my setup and insisted we got there early so he could practice on it ( of course it didnt happen that way )heheh...anyways he was so blown away by my setup (2 dns5k's x-9 mixer AND vdj4.0)

So when i got there on 12-1 -06.. we hooked up ,went to his house and his wife was like "so u the guy that came into town and and had me spend $3000.00 on dj equipment ? "well i hope you aint bring no more gear with you"lol
this dude went and got 2stanton 314's a three channel stanton mixer a marathon coffin with the laptop shelf builtin ,a laptop AND TORQ. i 'm like you bought all this stuff since i left !!(i was only in CA for three weeks).
all he could talk about is show me how you was doing this on vdj why this dont do that like vdj .
I couldn't double click a song to load it I had to manually drag the song to the deck (uugh).
I was only on it for a few hours but user friendly it isn't (oh yea torq's sounndcard works nice with vdj i (i had to try it out and compare the two).the next day hecalled me like so how do i get what you got i told him but he is one of them impulse buyers . Guitar Center is the only place in detroit to buy gearan the sales guys had never heard of the u46dj (or any asio 4in 4out usb or firewire soundcard..WtF!! thats why i love the net!!heheh...so he's @ guitar center on the phone with me and we got the sales guy looking in the cpu for different types of cards ..not a one !!!
then they gave him a hard time with torq saying you can't bring software back (but u cant use torq without the m audio soundcard so whats the beef !!! anyways he calls me back like i got serato .HUH ?
why didnt you just look online for a soundcard dumbazz.. anywayz i told him comgrads and lemmo know how he like it. he did .he called me that night like its just like what you got .it looks just like one of the skins you showed me on your laptop ..now how do i get the videos to play!?!
I told him if you would have listened to me you woluld have it running with money left over but now you stil gotta buy vdj ,but @ least you can use the $600.00 soundcard you just bought lol....
he was like well i juust spent another $300.00 if i buy one morething my wife gonna kill me ;So i told him just make sure you tell her whati told you to buy and that you couldn't wait to order the sound card online hehe

well thats sums it up for now he said he still gonna get the trial version for now and after his new years party hes gonna have the money to buy vdj . oh well ,hope he's happy ..cuz i sure am ( although i did like that marathon case he got) wish they were making those type of cases when i bought my roadready...guess thats the price you pay when you get your gear ahead of the game hehehe

Yes it does. Ive been using it now for about a month or so

I can co-sign that it works, and work extremely well. Sounds incrediable

The Torq soundcard?

Thought it was locked to the software

aparently not lol

guess he didn't give it a chance..i only got on it a couple of times we were still trying different configs .then we hooked it up to my laptop ;

you can use the m audio soundcard with vdj ,But you can't use torq Without the m audio soundcard.

oh, the software is locked to that ONE soundcard...... cute;) lol....

great lol

so much for competion then :-)

the Torq soundcard use's ASIO drivers, so it will work in any app that supports ASIO. Also by simply turning the volume knobs to the left, you can use normal wax if you have turntables or normal CD's if you have CD turntables. No rewiring or "Y" adapters needed. Belive it or not it also can be used as a stand a lone mini dj mixer as well. Right now from a software perspective VDJ to me is still better. But as soundcard solution, it's well worth the money, for all the reason's I have listed.

sounds like a good card...

i agree ; i had mentioned that to my friend as well (that he could still keep it for the soundcard) but i guess he felt he didnt get what he wanted .i dunno i would kept it though cause for what he had to put with it to get serato he could've got vdj and had two programs instead of on for the same price.heheh

torq =299.00
vdj=299.00
=600.00

serato=600.00 hehe

I use the Conectiv sound card now with VDJ. Works very good, and it sound very good. If your looking for just the sound card, it run for $250, and comes with the Torq software. For $ 50 more, you get the TCVS and the TCCDS, but the software, no were near as good as VDJ's. It has a few features that VDJ does not have, like amputate mode, witch allows you to use a single turntable or cd unit to control both decks. or quick scratch witch allows you to accsess a sample from one of its sampler bays, and scratch it up on a deck thats playing using your TCV or CDS. one of Its main selling points is the VST support. The other thing is that TVC in absolute mode is perrty much on the money. Works very close like a regular vinyl would. Other than that, I was not impressed. VDJ has way more to offer, way more features, and smoother mixing. Even though Torqs scratching capabillaties are good, I did not like the way it felt for mixing. It gave me a hard time keeping the beats in snyc. Seems unstable for some reason. And the skin, just not as attractive as VDJ'S.

VDJ has that ;)

VDJ can too;) Add sample folder as favorite, or drag a sample to sidelist... And you can use it as a scratch sample on any deck when you need ;)

And for absolute mode, since you are vip : Try the new beta;) hehe

Will Do, Thanks.

How did u guys set up conectiv with VDJ? Did u select phono or line mode on conectiv? Phono seems to track less effectively than line, but line seems to have a weaker signal strength when configuring timecodes (the signal starts low in the signal strength graph)

bump

does the TCV of Torq work with VDJ?
