Topic: How can I disable auto pitch, and make the pitch buttons more accurate?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi,
Just had a quick look at VDJ because I used to use Atomix before moving on to PCDJ to do my mixing.
I'm pretty damn impressed with it to be honest, apart from a few things:-
Time stretching causes more problems than it solves (Got turned off straight away)
There's no option (as far as I can tell) to turn off the automatic pitch setting when you load a track. As clever as it is, I'd much rather do it myself because that is one thing that no self respecting DJ would have done for him.
The pitch plus and minus buttons aren't accurate enough. They go up or down 0.2% iirc, which is far too much, to the point that you can't get an accurate enough mix (too fast or too slow with no inbetween).

Can anyone help me with these issues or give me some advice?

Cheers :)

Hi,

here's the settings for no bpm automation (under FAME Settings):
- Auto BPM: disabled
- Auto pitch reset: disabled (this keeps the pitch slider where it is on loading new tracks)
- make sure that BEATLOCK is OFF (the blue button beside play/pause on default skin)!

Now for the pitch accuracy part, use the SHIFT+[Num -]/SHIFT+[Num +] for fine adjustment. If it doesn't work by default, create your own shortcuts for these settings under Keyboard shortcuts, category "pitch", function "pitch", value +/-1, "on default deck":

Regards.

Flyts,
- your conclusion about the time stretch is correct. A new version will be released within a couple of weeks, with a complete new sound engine. According to the Beta testers this should get the time stretch to a professional level

- You could switch off the auto pitch: VDJ Config screen->Fame settings->Auto bpm->Disabled.

- If I remember correctly the default step for the keyboard shortcut to change the pitch is 10. So you can create new shortcuts yourself with smaller steps (1?): VDJ Config screen->Key board shortcuts->Add-> Action = Pitch +1 or Pitch -1 (Or other value if you like)-> Press the key for this action (I use ' for pitch down and / for pitch up).
