Topic: echo INDIGO DJ doesn't work with vdj? *gulp* help??

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I had the TCV setup I was sick of my heart ponding through my chest worrying
about crashes while folks are dancing so ..I'm selling my TCVs turntable setup with the maya44 included check my blog out shortly for photos - /NOW... I just want to play it safe so
I brought a echo indigo DJ card for my laptop and upon selection in VDJ 3.2 I immediatley get two options....RECOVER or SHUTDOWN - So I uninstalled the indigo drivers only now to get a directX sound card errorre(reinstalled DX still getting errors). Can anybody assit in helping me the indigo DJ working with VDJ 3.2?? I have a gig tommorrow night so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I had an Echo Indigo I/O (similar to yours, but one stereo input + one stereo output), and VDJ never had any problem with it. Echo products/drivers are usually very reliable so I'm sure you'll get it to work.

Here's what I'd do if I were you:
- if you didn't keep a copy of the VDJ 3.2 installer, request one to e-support a.s.a.p
- get latest drivers from http://www.echoaudio.com/Downloads/Drivers.php
- backup your VDj database XML file (so you don't loose all your analysis and cue points)
- uninstall VDJ
- uninstall all Maya drivers (did you already do that?)
- uninstall all Echo drivers
- should not be necessary, but if you really want to play it safe disable the on-board sound device of your laptop (you'll re-enable it later if you want to use it for monitoring)
- make sure you're up to date with DirectX 9.0c
- reboot your computer
- carefully follow Echo's instructions to install the drivers/card
- test that it works fine with Windows Media Player
- install VirtualDJ
- start VirtualDJ, select your Echo soundcard in the config, test that it works
- close virtualDJ
- overwrite the virgin VDJ datase XML file with your backup
- (if you want to monitor using onboard soundcard) re-enable your on-board sound device, open virtual DJ, go in Advanced Config panel to set your onboard soundcard as the monitoring soundcard

looks tedious, but sometimes I feel it's better to start from scratch again than to try to fix an unstable system...

let us know how it goes.

Thanks Nicolas aka DJbambi

I appreciate your input - I believe I got it but I'll know for sure in a few hours. I'm gonna go run through a live set at the club b4 tonight. What I did was actually use the ASIO for all installer and enableded the indogo DJ virtual ports. I still occasionally get the DirectX error but the sound card is pumping clear, crisp music in my lab so hope its the same at the house.
Allot of times I realize I just come here with issues and when I get a resolution - tend to leave and nobody knows if it worked or not. I'd like folks to get in the habit of posting actual solutions as well. I read through alot of post on this topic and actually none had a definitive solution (You guys should also moderate post that get hijacked, I came across that quite a bit)
So to recap: What worked for me was using the ASIO 4 ALL configuration utility to configure
the ECHO indogo DJ http://www.asio4all.com . I should also mention the first time I tried I got
a system halt error blue screen!! I did a hard reboot and I haven't seen the error since so hopefully that doesn't happen again.

Well I just bought one too... can't even get it to work on my laptop.. I've email tech support at echo.. when I try to listen to it it just slows the speed down and wines.... aweful sound... I know something is not right... I am going to try that fix myself... thanks I'll let you know how it works.. I was using a couple of USB sound cards not too bad .. but the indigo dj was very promising .... hope I didn't blow a few bucks on it...

efire
