Topic: VST Drum Machine that gets the internal sync of VDJ?
Are there any properly working Drum Machines that automatically get the internal clock of Virtual DJ and sync up properly? I had bad luck with timecode vinyl and Ableton Link, Id rather use a VST inside of VDJ.

Found this one in an older thread, someone said the VST got the clock from VDJ but its not working at all for me, its set to 120 BPM when I change to host and thats it. Am I missing something here?

Would spend that amount for sure if it works properly. Im trying to make Nepethon 2 and Drumazon 2 work, but its not syncing properly when turn the effect on and off.

On a different note this one does it properly, was my bad I had the effect on the wrong channel so it couldnt sync. Is there a way to have a master tempo all the decks follow automatically like in Traktor?

Thats the one thats syncing perfectly https://plugins4free.com/plugin/3727/

To be honest I'd be more inclined to use an app on my phone or tablet via Link - or if you have the Euros, an Ableton Move, Push 3, Akai MPC or Maschine+ :-)

When streaming, I tend to just finger drum live on the Maschine+ rather than sync. Have you considered sample loops and one shots on your controller pads?

Thats what I tried yesterday, I used Korg Gadget on the iPad yesterday with Ableton Link, but after 2 tracks playing I was not able to beatmatch anymore. Not sure if this is related to the timecode vinyl, but even after turning timecode off, it didnt respond at all.

I have no idea why and how it happend, so I thought if everything is internal in VDJ I can eliminate the Ableton Link factor. I couldnt make it work with Ableton and a Push 1 either. Am I missing something here with proper syncing protocol? Havent used sync for almost a year now in VDJ, it worked fine in Ableton to set the playing deck as master, so the pattern player followed.

Samples and one shots might be an option, I was aiming for something similar to the pattern player that is inside Traktor 4 now.

Youre absolutely right, its pretty easy to record samples as needed in Ableton, I will just copy the patterns of the pattern player in Traktor 4 and use the Sample Pads in VDJ to trigger them.

Thanks for the inspiraton mate :-)

No problem! I need to tune in to your Twitch stream again soon.

You can use one shots for live playing, loops for either whole patterns or layering/switching (using groups) and use Rune's new pad bank for replacing the original drums with loops.

Groove pad bank

I am lucky to have a Roland DJ-808 controller and use the built-in drum machine all the time :)

I dont stream on Twitch anymore, I moved to Kick 8 weeks or so ago, same name. You would love it there as well! Small community for now, but really cool people on there :-) No rules whatsoever for now, its the Wild West of streaming ^^

You mean the GRV inspired sample bank??? I have to look into this, completely forgot to check all the options inside VDJ.

not only that but its a sequencer, synth and dj rig,all in one?...man i was planning on a Roland dj 808...but recently spend a summere in the hospital {and i wont be the same...ever...dj 808 looks heavy..my back wont like it lol....guess you tried native instruments Maschine already?...then i will have to tell you all about my secret weapon ;)..i gave a hint in one of my "Mastertracker510" videos on you tube a few years ago.....Ok guys...thank me later ...surprised that no one has mentioned this Little gem...its the Xfer Records Nerve. vst ...made for dance producers....check it out...also search for the 3rd party sample/midi pack for this ..very good and reasonale priced...

Don't hesitate to contact me if you want a vcall or so where I show you how I use the DJ-808. I must say that I don't use the drummachine all the time, but I usually leave it running (in sync of course) in the background and mix it in whenever I need some extra punch. Another good use case is to smoothen house mixes (open hihat or hanclaps). I also have 4 custom drum kits (using VDJ samples) which means I use the built-in drum machine to trigger industrial snares etc ... really fun!

Do you have any sources on how to set it up? I've only got the 202 but I guess it's similar: My issue is that all the 808 sounds are replaced by the VDJ sample pack sounds. Having a beat consisting of airhorns and crashing glass is hilarious, but not exactly nice.

what about the dj707??...actually i wished they made a dj808 II...a followup...but I am sure there are other options...its all midi...and I've been on it since the start...now i mentioned the Nerve drums...with interchangable drum kits...sounds andup to date beats...what else do you want?...
