Topic: Will more CPU cores calculate stems faster and…
Hey support team,
I am a fan of pre-processing the stems. I have an i5 with 4 cores at 2.1 Ghz

Will more CPU cores pre-calculate the stems significantly faster?
Will more CPU cores make VDJ better when using many features of VDJ like more than two effects etc
I only want to be sure before I invest in a new PC
Thanks
Tom

Hello,
Steams need a gpu like geforce rtx.
The cpu is to slow, then u only can pre analyse the stem and save it.

But if u want to buy a new pc, then look for a gaming-laptop with 3070 and a high tdp power.

I buy a cheap legion L5 on BF sale over OTTO, with an 3050Ti, this is to slow after a few hours while parallel using shaders and daslight.
So i wait for the new generation with 4070, is maybe in april available in germany.
Then i think there be no problems with stems.

For more informations we can writ in german over pm.

Thanks for your answer!
My question was if the pre analysis of stems is done by CPU? If yes will a new PC with more CPU cores be faster in pre-analysing. I don’t want to do it live, a GPU for over 1000 Euros is too much for my budget.

Both are quicker on GPU. They can be done on CPU but in general take longer.

If you don't have a suitable GPU, it will indeed be done on CPU, and a faster CPU with more cores will indeed be faster than a slower CPU with less cores.

Thanks guys! That answers my question!
Happy weekend
