Topic: Keyboard shortcuts for skin devices that are not listed...

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I am using a 4-turntable skin. when looking for the "play" keyboard shortcut for turntable three or four, the are not found in the shortcut list in "Preferences/Mapping/keyboard Preferences".

How do I find and/or assign shortcuts to these turntables?

I want to assign those Turntable 3/4 shortcuts to an external USB keyboard device similar to X-Keys. I have already assigned the shortcuts for Turntable 1 and 2 to the device.

I am using VB8.5 b6747 on an Intel Mac Mini

maybe

deck 3 leftdeck (or leftdeck +1)
&
deck 4 rightdeck (or rightdeck +1)

Exactly what does that mean?

What key are those strings assigned to?

How do I assign a keypress to either of those strings?

Your answer leaves out vital information that does not "jump out" to me in the documentation.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything - I just need more information.

Not sure what you are asking?

If you want to assign a key, on a keyboard, as play/pause for deck 3, for example:

then choose the key you would like to use, for the play/pause action, in the default mapper, (if unsure how to do that, ask, and can explain) here is link for ref .. for mapping: https://www.virtualdj.com/manuals/virtualdj/settings/controllers/index.html

for example if you wanted to assign the action to the "a" key.. place your cursor in the Key dialog box of the Mapper and type "a"
then in the Action dialog box add: deck 3 play_pause, to map the KB's "a" key to play/pause deck 3.

and similarly deck 4 play_pause to the action for the KB key you choose for deck 4..

then save the mapping with a unique name, (like Keyboard 3-4)

----------
Note: use of the "a" key is just for example, NOT recommended, since it would start and stop deck 3 when typing Madonna in search.

Thank you, !!DEEJAY!!

It took a bit of thinking on my part, but I was able to piece together your explanation and make shortcut keys for decks three and four!

again THANKS!
