Topic: Would it be good for a DJ to use both FL Studio and Virtual DJ live? If so, how?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

My son has FL Studio. I have Virtual DJ. I would love to be able to do some of what he can do - live. Do some DJs have both (or similar software) running simultaneously?

How is it possible to use both simultaneously?

I googled, found possibly-relevant somewhat-old results, got confused. I have some sense of what VST plugins are, but I'm not clear whether they are relevant here. If they are relevant here, should VDJ patch into FLS or vice versa or have I got it all wrong?
