Topic: Software unrelated to VirtualDJ making connections to a VirtualDJ domain.

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I recently installed the free version of VirtualDJ just to give it a try, but have since uninstalled it. I was having internet connectivity issues yesterday, so I was looking through the resource monitor in Windows10 to see if something was saturating my connection. As I was looking through the active connections I noticed something very strange. Software completely unrelated to VirtualDJ is now making connections to live.virtualdj.com, even though the software is no longer even installed.

This seems very shady, as there is no reason anything should be connecting to that domain. This persists through reboots and everything, so I am 90% sure this is not a reporting error from resource monitor. I would like an explanation as to what exactly was installed by your software that would have caused this to happen. Below is a screenshot of the current programs connecting to that domain. All of them have some form of audio/video recording or broadcasting feature, which makes me wonder exactly what is being skimmed here.

There is zero reason for official nvidia software to be making a connection to your domain. ZERO.

did you download from this domain?

Yes I downloaded it from this site. live.virtualdj.com is your domain correct? If you are implying I installed malware, what would an attacker have to gain by using your domain?

Actually the way I see it, this is a HOSTS issue.
Check your hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts) and REMOVE any lines related to VirtualDJ
Most likely these lines will look like "127.0.0.1 live.virtualdj.com"
After you remove these lines and save the file, reboot your PC and check again...

PS:
1. If you have such line(s) on your hosts files then you did try to use a cracked version. Only cracks modify hosts file in order to prevent license checks from VirtualDJ
2. Most likely your other apps are trying to communicate with localhost (127.0.0.1) which at this time resolves to a wrong DNS
3. If you still experiencing "issues" after all of the above open a command prompt with administrative privileges and run the following command:
ipconfig /flushdns
Then reboot once again.

I do not pirate software, or anything else for that matter. The software is free here, so what would be the point of that? My .hosts file contains nothing but the commented out header. There are no entries.

Perhaps a custom firewall / part of your virus scanner that causes network traffic to be incorrectly labeled?
