Topic: Virtual DJ and a 4 channel Pioneer controller with output via the computer sound card?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi.

I'm currently using the following:

1. Pioneer DDJ-SR2
2. Virtual DJ licensed for the SR2
3. A desktop computer's sound card for the output of the SR2, routed via the USB cable to a standard USB input

Virtual DJ allows me to use the soundcard for the SR2 with an amplifier and speakers OR to use the computer's sound card for the master output.

I prefer to use the computer sound card and some good computer speakers with my dual monitor setup to make recorded mixes. I can use the amplifier and speakers but it bugs my housemates.

I can't really tell from checking the other Pioneer controllers that are supported by VirtualDJ on the website whether they also support the use of the computer sound card. The reason I am interested is that I would like to upgrade to a 4 channel controller.

Does anyone know this? I know it's kind of an unusual application.

I know I could probably get a controller without a sound card that would work so if anyone has some recs for Pioneer or non-Pioneer controllers without sound cards, mid to high end, let me know.

You can check one of my crappy mixes at https://www.mixcloud.com/james-zachary2/one-particle/

Thanks.

VirtualDJ allows you to direct the master output to any output you like, regardless of which controller you use or which license you have.

So much more versatile than Serato.

Thanks.
