I'm just wondering if this is possible and whether virtual dj plans to make it possible? I would much prefer this method to usb which is unstable.

No you can't
BTW: Even when you use the LAN cable (and only with Nexus 2 series), you need ONE USB connection in order to use the CDJ's in HID mode.
PS: Only CDJ NXS2 offer the ability to use them as HID devices via LINK cable. And for that to happen you still need one USB connection on the DJM900NXS2 mixer that "links" all HID pages together and makes it possible to use one USB for up to 4 CDJ's and the mixer itself.
Our plan is to support this feature for NXS2 series at some point.
