Topic: Need help: Mc Crypt ME-100 midi-controller with laptop, soundproblem PFL

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi,

This "elderly DJ" ;-D could use some help;

After a lifetime of dragging cases with Cd’s along, I quit doing sets a while ago… you know…wife, kids etc.
But now the kids have grown up a bit, the decks were again calling me.

So 2 years ago I bought a Mc Crypt ME-100 Midi-controller (with VDJ 6 LE as extra)
So far I was only doing some stuff in the study, on my desktop (4.1 soundcard on board, Windows XP) nothing fancy.

But couple of months ago I was asked by community center to come and play occasionally (70, 80 90’s night)

Now I want to have a mobile set, which is my controller with a HP laptop/netbook which I can hook up to sound systems at any small party where there's a soundsystem with jack or RCA input

My set:
Laptop (windows 10) with just one 3,5 mm jack headphone output, directly connected to a soundsystem with a jack-jack cable.
The Midi-controller is connected to laptop with USB
My headphone is connected to the controller through its headphone output.
System is good, controller is working but can not be detected/chosen in VDJ soundsetup (it was on my desktop with Win XP)
Soundsetup is input; none, output; Headphones, soundcard; 2 cards.

The problem;
I cannot use the PFL function to setup the next track for mixing.
No matter which sound setup I choose, I can’t pre-listen tracks on the other deck while the first deck is playing.

I updated all drivers in my laptop and systems says everything is in order.

I suspect it is a soundcard-issue….
Do I need a USB external soundcard to solve this?

If yes, what is a reasonably priced interface for a grandpa-DJ just having a bit of fun in the community center?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Grandpa

Can you post a screenshot of your VirtualDJ Sound Setup ?

If you have selected 2 sound cards, then probably you will have to select the sound card of the controller as 2nd option (for Headphones)

Hi DJDad,

Here are 2 screenshots. First one with VDJ on my Desktop (with Soundsetup including ME-100 as a choice in setup) and second one with VDJ on my laptop with just the choices primary sounddriver or headphone IDT or communications headphone.
