Topic: How to find/load prior saved loops?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

On 8.1 I had saved loops for many songs. On 8.2 when i load the same songs it does show where in the song there is a saved loop but i cant seem to figure out how to load it. Those loops do not show up in the new pad "Saved loops" section. So I have to default to resetting up all those loops again for those songs. Does anybody know how I load a saved loop into the pad drop down without needing to re-create them?

I'm at work now, but I think ill do a little bit more digging and use the poi editor.

switch pad pages to "Saved Loops"

yeah that is what i did but it did not carry over the saved loops. I can see it in the timeline of the track but its not in the actual pad page. perhaps i can go into the poi editor when i get home and just remap that saved loop to the pad or something to that nature.

Can you post a screenshot of the POI Editor showing the Saved Loop of a track (with the Saved Loop selected from the left-side list) ?

So I did figure it out. So after upgrading from whatever version of 8 I had that didn't have these drop down pads, My loops are there but not in the 1st screen shot assigned to the pad. So what I have to do is load up the songs I use my loops for on a regular basis and just assign it to pad 1 in poi editor. So not the end of the world but I'm glad I don't have to recreate my loops.

i think the problem is the saved loop is not assigned to a slot
if you do that it will probably work i think

i am guessing vdj 8.1 didn't assign slots can't remember .. i am sure one of the dev will enlighten us :-)

Correct so as in my second screen shot i go into poi and assign it to slot 1 for example. And I'm starting to like the color feature now, so i put my loops as green and my mix points as yellow. I never really got into detail with poi editor but I will use it for a few tweaks.

If there are many tracks that you had saved loops and need a batch edit, give this a try...

- Important. Backup you Database
- Open the database.xml file with a Text Editor
- Do a batch Find & Replace
Find : Name="Saved Loop"
Replace with : Name="Saved Loop 1" Slot="1"
- Save database.xml
- open VirtualDJ and see if that helped.
