Topic: Error Message - "Unable to write licence" on VDJ 8

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello, lately I have noticed that every time I open my Virtual Dj software, I get the following error message:

"Virtual Dj - Unable to write licence

There was a problem saving your login credentials"

It doesn't prevent me from doing anything, as I can still use my VDJ, but the message is just annoying. Is there any way I can get rid of this error message? Thanks.

WINDOWS suggestion only:

I'm not sure why this message pops up, but make sure you do have write privileg on ../Documents/VirtualDJ

@PachN, thanks for your reply. How do I do that though? How do I make sure I have write privilege?

Right Click, Proporties, Security tab, Edit, Your User, and grant permissions.

Cool, thanks Nuzzlet for that. Will try and see if it will help.

Same problem for me.
I checked the Virtual DJ forlder and I have the access privilieges.

Right click the licence.dat file in your Virtual DJ folder and go to properties. If Read Only is checked, uncheck it.

I have adjusted the permissions on mine and am still experiencing same issue. I have pro basic $99 version. Any other advise out there as support is not very helpf

It shouldn't be neccessary, but you could try and start VDJ as administrator.

If I remember, licenses are stored server side. So I would suggest cleaning data and reinstalling the program. Then log in again. Don't take my word for this, but I think that would work. Maybe someone else could confirm it.

I am getting the same Error Message - "Unable to write licence" on VDJ 8. I couldn't find the license.dat file. I have to login every time and it wont save my settings OR remember me? any help ????? thanks

you probably don't have write access. Like suggested above, Right click on VDJ and run it as Administrator
