I recently purchased the mixtrack quad controller license for virtual dj 8 so i could use a microphone i picked up recently, however, i can not get it to work... the audio input when i select microphone only gives me one option for microphone, and apparently it is the mic on my laptop, not the mic i have plugged into my input jack... i have looked through vdj and numark guides and manuals and i can't find anything to help me. I'm getting close to ditching vdj and possibly numark in the future... please help me avoid this ;p

The mic input on the Quad is routed directly to the audio output of the Quad. This is perfectly normal and standard, as it's designed for DJing.
Under normal operating circumstances, you'd connect a pair of speakers to the output of the Quad, and a mic plugged into the Quad would be audible through the speakers.
The other thing to consider is the signal chain: VDJ -> Quad (mic input) -> Speakers, so when you plug a mic into the Quad, you're adding it to the signal after it's left VDJ.
For normal operation you don't need the mig signal to go through the VDJ software.

I was wondering if it was because i don't use speakers, only my headphones like 95% of the time... Certainly looks like i just wasted a good 100 dollars on my license and mic.
If i understand correctly, because it is directly routed through my quad controller, i shouldn't even use the audio input mic setting because it won't pick it up.
I realize this is mostly a numark problem but no one there has yet to get back to me... Shouldn't i probably be able to hear my mic through my headphones?

If you are only using headphones, you have to turn your CUE/MIX button to MIX to hear the master output signal which includes your MIC.
