Topic: My DDJ – SZ needle search isn't working right

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi everyone, I'm having a strange issue with my DDj-sz and anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it. I use virtual DJ 8. I've been having no problems up until the last two weekends with my SZ. The needle search slider disables itself when it wants to and was wondering if anybody's been having the same problem or if there's a fix to this. To me it seems like it's somehow been turned off, because when I hit the shift button and put my finger on the needle search it will work. And if I don't hit the shift button and put my finger on needle search it will work. This issue's been happening for the last 2 to 3 weeks. Sometimes on my right player sometimes on my left player and yesterday it happened on both players. I have only had my SZ for a couple months so I highly doubt it's a firmware update because it's been working fine until recently. I try rebooting the controller, I've tried rebooting my computer and the controller and nothing helps it just turns itself on and off whenever it wants. Has anyone had this problem and does anyone know of a fix for this problem.

Thanks everyone,
Ralph

sorry everyone admin if you can move this over to hardware technical support I think that's a better place for my question sorry about that

From what I've read elsewhere, there's a safety feature built in to the mapping, meaning that unwanted track jumps from touching it accidentally are prevented.

That's why the shift is required.

Needle search works "as is" when a deck is not on on air (In other words when the combination of volume fader and crossfader position will result no sound on the master output)
If a deck is on air then you need to press SHIFT first.
That's a security feature most Pioneer gear has and it's there to prevent accidental jumps when you try to manipulate effects.
