Topic: crackling sound that disappears after a while

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi there, I am experiencing a sound issue and hope somebody of the supporters can help.

I am using a Motu Microbook II as Audio Interface and I am in general very happy with it.

Symptoms: when I start VDJ and play a song there is a crackling sound during the first 30-45 sec of playback, then it slowly disapears.

- it only occurs when I have started VDJ
- this crackling does not appear when playing from another source like iTunes through the Microbook
- the crackling does not appear when I have freshly restarted the computer and open VDJ for the first time, however, when I close VDJ and open it again then the crackling is there as described
- changing latency settings did not make a difference (auto, 256, 512..)
- bitrate 44100 or 48000 no change
- reselecting the audio interface in the settings does not change anything

Specs:

VDJ 8.1 (latest)
Macbook Pro 15'' from 2015, lots of free space and RAM, El Capitan (latest)
driver from Motu also the latest

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

in addition to my post...

I just found out that the crackling does not happen, when I have only configured the Motu Interface as only interface (Master, channel 1+2) in the Audio Setting. When I add another interface as headphone output (e.g. the Macbook onboard headphone output) then the crackling appears. Interestingly the noise is only in the Master output, not in the headphone output signal.

Im Having the same issue and have been for months now i work at a club and it happens with every automix song. someone please figure this out. I dont remember the specs of my laptop off hand its at the club But this is what i do know Toshiba satellite everything is up to the spec for Vjd if not more. Numark Mixtrack 2 pro. Unlimited content plan Vdj Pro Subcription

When you say you're changing the latency setting Are you changing in in VDJ or in the micro book control panel? I would make sure to change the latency in both VDJ and the microbook to 512 and see if that helps. Also I would make sure that both are set to 44100

If you are using dualdeck automix switch to only single deck automix mode.
There is a bug with dualdeck mode and crackling.
