Just wondering the best way to download the entire catalog to the hard drive so that when I do karaoke parties friends aren't waiting for songs to buffer or download?

I don't know, but I guess it could be possible. However, let's just take a minute to think about the possibility of downloading every karaoke track in their library, 1 by 1. I'm thinking ................................................................... still thinking.............................................. Well, I'm done thinking, and because I'm a moderator, I'm going to choose my words very carefully.

Karaoke CU must have '100s of thousands of tracks, it's like saying I want to download the internet. All you need to do is ask your friends beforehand during setup for a few tracks and you'll have enough lead to dl later requests while the first selections are being played out.

I just happen to have seen it a moment ago when SBDJ posted it in the premium forum.
I tried using *, it won't pull up anything. Then, the CU list only returns a certain number of results on a normal search. I think the best you could do is small groupings.

In the wiki pages there is a downloadable pdf file which has all the tracks listed. You would need to use that, search for the songs and download to cache. But these will only stay in cache for a month. So its not very practical. You are better off downloading the songs off a karaoke site or even youtube beforehand and just using CU to pull tracks you may have missed.
Or you need to have fast and reliable internet access.
Practically though - after some time you will see a pattern in the songs. Usually the same songs selected week in week out (check out your playlist history). So those you can search for and download. It won't be more than 100 or 200 songs.
Also, when you are using CU, make it a habit to download to cache when you are selecting the song. Then it will stay in cache for a month.

I believe that dl'd CU tracks stay in the cache indefinitely, All you update is the drm licenses

They will stay in the cache as long as you pay the monthly subscription, but are we really thinking about this? Do the math gentlemen. Even if they downloaded in a minute a piece. Forget about his internet company throttling him down, after the first 100.

Let's put this hypothetical scenario in play.
Let's say the songs average 7MB, that gives you roughly 88GB for the library.
I have a 1TB/month before overage fees. I download at 100Mbps. So, in a few hours, I could have the whole library.
It appears that Pheonix Entertainment now owns Sound Choice. When you purchase the rights to their GEM series, you can get 6000 tracks for $4,500. That's $0.75 a track. Or, you can make a payment plan over 24 months with a $900 deposit and 24 payments of $247. In the end, you still don't own the tracks. You own the right to play them, just like CU. add to that, up to $100 fee every 5 years.
If your just getting into Karaoke, or testing the water before making a large investment, maybe caching the library isn't to far fetched. It would take a few years for you to have spent the same amount on CU, and you have more than twice as many tracks.
