Maybe there's something wrong with the player. There is one thing that you do know. The last couple of times that you played, you had trouble. Would you use a speaker that you knew had a blown woofer? So why are you still playing in front of clients, when you know you have a problem? You need to fix this, before you do another gig, where you are getting paid. I would not play even if it was for free. They are looking at you as the problem, not your equipment. I don't care what the problem is, if you know you have a problem, it is your responsibility not to use equipment that does not work. Now, have you tried switching the players, to see if the same thing happens? Tried another controller? Changed the usb cable? These are some things you need to test at home. If these players have power cords, you need to check them. This does not sound like a software issue, but what do I know. I know I would not play in front of people until I was confident that the problem was solved.

So you have Thursday and Friday to practice with your new gear. You don't have to know every aspect of the controller, but just how to work it. You have been here for awhile, so you should have no problem with your gig, and let us know if you have the same problem. What ever it is, we would like to know, so we can help others. Wishing you the best on Saturday.

I have two 3900's and a few years ago I had a similar issue.
Thanks to Scott (SBDJ) I found out that my problem was because I was using the internal sound card in the 3900. The platter would occasionally freeze up and the track would stop playing. Sometimes when the platter stopped, the VDJ GUI waveform would continue to move even though there was no sound.
I replaced using the internal soundcard with an external sound card, and that solved the problem. For a soundcard I am currently using a Behringher FCA610, but most any external soundcard out there should work.
Hope this helps.

DJtyme209, it seems that you already have the 4000 (from another post). How is it working , and do you have the same issue you describe in this post?

so through some testing i did notice. on the player that's having the problem. i have to hit the (play) button a couple of tymes for it to play a song. like b4 in the middle of mixing it was always just a Quick tap/push of the button. i now notice i have to push it down harder & or a few quick taps. could it be the button sticking ? that's causing the music to stop at random tymes ?
Posted Tue 03 Nov 15 @ 4:41 pm

so i was messing around and checking my usb cables. and when i went to wiggle some of them i found out the (white one) which is going up to my laptop, to be loose & makes that sound windows makes when you plug & unplug something into the usb ports. the 2 black cables are going to the SC3900's. not sure if this is the problem with my sc3900 randomly stopping. as when it does i just hit the play button and the music continues to play on. my thinking is if it were a bad usb cable wouldn't the music just stop period ? and or it would effect both players and not just one right ?
anyhoo my Question for Owners of the sc3900's do ya keep yours plugged into a usb powered hub or connect them directly to you laptop ?
thanx for any advice/help

I plug both my 3900's directly into 2 of my laptop ports. Everything else I run off of a USB hub into the third port on my laptop.

thanx for the quick reply :-) im thinking about saving my $ and just them in direct. but some had said in the past they (sc3900's) pull to much power from the usb post & that why to use a powered hub ? since day one about 3 years ago when i 1st got them. thay have always been plugged into an an powered usb hub.....

I asked you to switch the players, and see if you still have that issue. Have you tried that yet? If the same player is still having the issue, it's the player. If the other player starts to have issues, then it's the connections, or something else on that side.

No stops on either player, how long have you been testing?

You may also want to try and replace both USB cables with another set of good quality cables that have the magnetic rings to filter out noise.
Also, are your USB ports on the laptop working properly, and putting out good stable power?

The ones I have now came with the denons & they have those resistor things in the cables. But just today I ordered so good ones called chroma cables from DJtechtools.com and how do I check my usb ports ? I assume they are working oaky.
