I want to mix the Fight Song by Rachel Platten, it's interesting.
Most songs have 4 beats to the bar, this appears to have 5 ?
VDJ8 has assigned the beat as 103bpm, I think it's really 128bpm.

I'm thinking of the first 4 beats looped, and synced to a 128bpm song of a suitable key, fade in using the eq's, and then exit the loop.
My only other thought is a straight cut on a suitable beat using a 128bpm song to the Fight Song.

How would you treat this song for mixing?

Note: It might be a good drop down from house?
Then transitioning into something like Problem ?
Music theory is not my strong point.

I don't know what makes you think otherwise, but it's in standard 4/4 time, has a BPM of 88 (and so says my VDJ 8) and is in the key of G (VDJ 8 got that wrong).

The track I've downloaded has the key of G but a 103bpm (CORRECTION, one mix 103bpm, the other 88bpm) according to VDJ8, and the beatgrid is all over the place.

I need to check my mix.

Changing the bpm to 88 still leaves my beatgrid in a mess.

Hm I've got the Dave Aude Radio Mix, and another mix, I've got myself confused.

It appears it should be 88bpm as you say Groovin.

My beatgrid is still all over the place!

If I was good at music theory I would say it's not 88bpm, nor 4/4.
In my ignorance I still think it's 5 beats to the bar ?

The song is still signatured 4/4 most of the time (16 beats in the measure), however it does switch to 4/2 in the final bridge post chorus.

My beatgrid is up the wall.
It only makes a little sense to me with a bpm @128, and 5 beats to the bar.
I'm just trying to fit a beatgrid, and failing.

I believe a drum machine will have been used, and the grid should be tight, were not dealing with a human drummer.

It's supposed to be 4/4 and 88bpm.
I can't get a beatgrid to fit.
Can anyone?

ANSWER
I've just got hold of another copy, the beatgrid is much better.
That leaves me a little worried.

Bad version, meaning bad quailty......... This does have an effect on how well VDJ does when analyzing.

Hm maybe not bad quality, suppose the time signature is 5/4 with a 128bpm, and a key of G.
What would VDJ8 think?

... but I'm not a musician, better qualified than me would need to examine the Dave Aude Radio Mix and tell me if I'm right, or wrong.

PS: It's a cu download.
