Hi folks, loving VDJ 8, been using it since it came out, love it love it. Just encountered a wee niggle that my aspergers is finding it hard to get around. Like most of you, I obtain all my music legally purchased. Now after downloading a compilation from itunes, I created a playlist in itunes only for that compilation. Open VDJ 8, and there's the playlist...yay.... \o/.
Now, opening the playlist, I spot that only 18 of the 34 tunes in that playlist are showing in VDJ. So I investigate. Checking out the filenames in itunes, I see that the ones VDJ 'reads and can play' are *.m4a files, which the 18 tracks listed in my VDJ are infact...*.m4a files. The others, are all *.m4p. Fair enough, now when I drag a track, from itunes to a VDJ deck, this plays fine. Obviously not recording because its protected. Which is fine as I don't record many sets, most are live performances.
Why will VDJ play this file absolutely fine when dragged from itunes to a deck, but not 'see' it at all in the playlist? I have delved deeper into my library, and many tunes I know I have, but are not found, but playable in VDJ8, can be played with the 'drag n drop' method. Something ain't right there by my reckoning, or my understanding is a lil off on the principle. Any pointers/slaps would be greatfully appreciated :)

Go to advance options, search fileFormats, add m4p to the list.

Interesting, I was under the impression that file protection had been removed from iTunes. I have not had a purchase in the last few years that was protected. Are these older files?
As far as I know, the only files that will not show up in an internally recorded mix are Content Unlimited files.

If they are actually drm protected by iTunes they would indeed not play in vdj. I seem to remember about the possibility to remove the protection once iTunes stopped using it. Perhaps the protection was removed but the file name was kept the same.
