Take The Virtual DJ 8 DVS Challenge

http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2014/11/take-virtual-dj-8-dvs-challenge/

"Remember the Pepsi Taste Test Challenge? Well, Virtual DJ has today issued its own challenge. It has thrown a gauntlet down by inviting all DJs who currently use any DVS (digital vinyl system) to try the new Virtual DJ 8 DVS engine...

Unlike some other DVS systems, Virtual DJ’s doesn’t require you to own any proprietary hardware in order to use it, and also claims to work with anyone else’s systems “out of the box”. That means if you’re an existing user of any DVS system, you can download the demo and try it right away on the gear you already own. It also means if you have any DJ audio interface with two stereo inputs and two stereo outputs, or any DJ controller with an audio interface built in and the ability to connect up two record decks or CD players, again you can use Virtual DJ’s timecode solution without needing to buy extra hardware or plugins; all you need is some timecode vinyl or CDs (and of course a pair of decks or CDJs)."

Rune, on Firefox the entire right side is cut off because of the large video images.

I mentioned sometime back that the window for Youtube would be better reduced down to at least 50% of it's current size, better still would be even down to 25% in the forum settings of the hoster. Probably more convenient for those using a mobile phone as well.

(Right side is currently cut off and I'm looking at it on a 19" monitor just now)

Is VirtualDJ timecode coming?
We asked Atomix, the makers of VirtualDJ, whether it will be re-introducing its own timecode vinyl (there was some once, a long time ago) any time soon. While the company wouldn’t confirm this, it is actually rumoured that this is indeed coming.
One of the promo videos we’ve seen for this release has a (seemingly rather hastily mocked-up) piece of VirtualDJ timecode vinyl featured in it. It would definitely be a good move ton introduce this if the company is serious about pushing the timecode abilities of VirtualDJ 8, not least to show the rest of the industry that it isn’t just piggybacking on everyone else’s timecode.

Been saying the same exact thing on this forum.

gotta wait and see.. maybe good things come before xmas - ... ;)

Seeing full page now on Firefox..

What settings are they using cause there's no way they just plugged in a RANE and Pioneer mixer (I'm sure that's what they used as they're soundcard) and started to put in work like that. Also were they both using PC's in those videos??

Took it! Love it and praying I can get my Z2 mixer to work with it! Response is tight, sound is super clean and setup was easy!

Repost of the DJWORX article as it sorta drowned in other posts

Virtual DJ 8 DVS — scratching at the top table

".. their DVS engine has been entirely rewritten, and is more than ready for primetime, and is coming out fighting!
After a sustained period of lasers, tears, slow drags, and repeated spinbacks, VDJ8 held up amazingly well. So right away, we’re giving it a tentative thumbs up.

We’re happy to report that Virtual DJ 8 seems ready to be taken seriously by people most accustomed to turntables."

These videos should be stickied.

I like seeing vdj used with turntables for a change.

I wanted to test the VDJ-8 DVS but I was not successful. I have a DJM-850 Mixer from Pioneer and two denon SC3900. Does any one have any idea about what could had gone wrong. And if there any way to re-set the temp license of the Demo version to see if I can see it work. My set up work perfectly fine with my traktor software. I have every thing connected to a USB hub and then I connect my hub to my Mc. and everything work as a DVS. My DJM-850 mixer work as my audio card and my SC3900 are use as Hibrid. I do not need any timecode cd to use it. So any idea how can I go ahead and test this setup with VDJ-8. Thank you.

The hybrid signal from the Denon 3900s are not supported in v8 - they don't supply position information, which makes it a different signal that fails calibration.

The only workaround at this time is on each deck to play the signal you are going to use from a USB stick or CD, calibrate, then switch to Hybrid MIDI mode and ignore the warnings. Unfortunately you would have to do this every time you run the software.

Ok, so Hybrid mode on my SC3900 will not work on VDJ-8 DVS. I also do not see that VDJ-8 identify my Pioneer DJM-850 mixer audio card. It seem that I can not quiet use VDJ-8 with my setup yet.

From looking a the video on top. it seem that I will have to use the SC3900 as "Line In" on the DJM-850 but I may need to purchase the license first. That is a bit hard to do right now since I wanted to test it first since I already own traktor.

Now that's how you sell a product!

I thought the downloadable version let you test all functionality for 10 mins at a time?

Correct, except broadcasting I believe.
