like the tittle says...anyone knows about this?

does anyone here know the importance of being able to sync this program with external midi gear?...prob not..

Yes, there is a MIDI clock output in VDJ.
I'm not sure when it was added (it's hard to check via the wiki) but it's been there a while.
The thing is, it's not something which is accessible from the software interface or covered in the manual.
In order to use it, you have to download the VDJ registry tool and select your MIDI clock destination using that.
If you wish to send the signal to other software then you'll also need a "virtual MIDI port" such as LoopBe.
(BTW I don't think the VDJ MIDI clock works on Mac)

I allready had done that Groovin...he,but nobody had mentioned it.unbelievale!...I saw it in the regestry a few weeks ago...so the secret is to have a mixer with the old standard midi ins & outs.now my old Hercules didnt...But...my new (old ) Xponent does!...so along with that i also got (this here is the brainstorm for all u folks) the new volca series by korg...all three! volca beats, volca bass & volca keys, incorporating step sequencers like the classic 303,606 and other retro Roland synths...they are mini sized, easy to cary with you gear and you drop them on beat while that clock its pulsing..man...I've died and gone to heaven..ahem...so there it is...oh but I also got a casio, known for allways coming up with inovating synths since the early 80's. is the XG-W1 which has step sequencer as well as phrase sequencer, and sampling but its very light yet full sized.and since madonnas dj/guitarist uses one...so can i..lol...hint..if you sync external synths as oposed to rewiring to reason, its less demanding on the system which only has to output a clock pulse.enough sayd...;)..way da go vdj!!!

Ah......I thought you were looking for it.
So you'd found it and were asking if others knew it was there? Yes, there have been few of us! Threads are here if you search.

uh...yeah was wondering ,I've searched but it was a while i guess...huey was asking about..see? thats the killer...some people frown on a older controller (and yes it has its quirks with its drivers, M-Audio should do something about that) but when you strip it down to the basic, meaning not install whatever that other software is,and install it fresh (and I do mean that.if you are running 64bit like me and you made the mistake of plugging the Xponent before installing new 64bit drivers,it will be a mess,no..he,he you must uninstall the originals and put tose fresh 64bit drivers in there, then its good..and for the price of a mixtrack, you will find good deals on the xponent, which has hell more buttons.a midi button to switch all controllers to midi standard..or I believe..another second map (there is some possibilities there,I know.havent dove into it yet, anyone? ) and that touch pad, which turns out to be jst a mouse pad.I like to mod it as a midi touch pad like the korg kaos pad.I could build one in to that area..hmm.also there is a company still offering custom skins for this and other dj gear..nedd to find that though..but the lesson here is...you do what you want it do do...bye children..;)

Haha, ya the title of your thread is misleading. I was thinking you haven't found it.
But yeah I've got it working on the PC but not on the Mac although I have a few work arounds which work pretty good for what I'm doing.

I've changed the name of this thread, as I too thought you couldn't find it.
Seems to have got your ideas flowing though!! :-)

Now now "Groovin"..you did'nt really think I would be THAT behind on this ,now did ya?..;>
How it works...when you hit track start or play VDJ sends a start command and Clock pulse which will sync evrything external and internal, right? your external Drum machine, sequencers or synth with sequencer will lock and start to play in sync...things to concider...if you now have one track playing and now a external midi drums or sequencer playing on beat and you dont hit the stop button...that clock its still pulsing.you can now start /stop the drum/sequencer on beat to "drop" it like a record on the beat (use start/stop,not pause )..and you can then scratch the virtual "record" deck and also drop on beat...you can only stop the deck (if you just started with one deck,by holding the platter down (this only works with touch sens and
timecode of course) you want the external to continue playing (or a second deck with a basic loop for instance ) in order to hear where you beat is.you'll find yourself "Jugglin" various beats.one problem..the sampler could be use only if the sample is properly coded to follow the beat.I nottice that i end up with various audio samples that wont sync up.so what we need here is a quick way to "time stamp" these samples.anyone?

Maybe that'll come in VDJ 8...
I really hope Atomix have moved away from the old method - the existing sampler is designed to record from the decks rather than load "proper" samples (from a library), so it gets its sync info when the track is recorded from the deck.
If you try to use a sample from elsewhere, it has to be loaded to a deck first, then played and recorded back into the sampler. A pain in the rear end.
Hopefully VDJ 8 will sync the samples in a different way, or allow the sample slots to analyse tempo themselves.
It would've been nice if Atomix had involved the users a bit more in the development of VDJ 8. Ideas, suggestions and so on. As it is, we just have to wait and see what they've done, then ask for it to be tweaked.

Maybe, just maybe you won't need to tweak anything!!
Who knows??

Only the very small privileged minority who've been deemed worthy enough to have access to the beta.
Once 8 is available to a wider audience (on release? wide beta doesn't seem to have happened) there are bound to be things where improvements could be made.

Lmao!!

Yes you can laugh, Mr. Ultra VIP who's probably had access to VDJ 8 for at least 4 months.

Groovin I was laughing at this thread, it's such a hard read. Tracker is a cool dude and we've talked on the phone for many hours. When he's typing sometimes I think his mind is going so fast that it doesn't always come out the best. I get what he's saying but I had to read it a few times to understand what y'all were talking about, lol!! As for 8, I've only seen the videos you've seen.....

HA,ha,haaa you all make me laugh!! luv u guys.each sticks to his train of thought...imao the ego of the Dj...YES! I think I will rename my thread that..Naw...back to the subject..the "clock" is ticking...Luv it..

Groovin's picture has been stalking me today. I have seen it on FB twice and twitter 3 times in the last 24 hours!! WEIRD!!!! lol

Not on the VDJ pages I hope!
Beatbreaker, it did look as if you were LYAO at my post. Hint: Maybe next time, you could be a bit more verbose. :-)

ha,ha I'm rolling on the floor Lol...ha,ha...the truth is ...we are all Einsteins people...but...I jumped on midi in the early 80's,the birth of..and the most important factor here IS to be able to syncronize with other music making applications and equiptment..at least for me..I know I'm way ahead on it that than most folks here..and I'm a fluent Rock lead Guitarist to boot?...now c'mon...so why I'm not V.I.P.?..I am... in my own private space..and that's what matters...shooo,look what I've had to deal with.yesterday I had to reload the RESPAWN program back into my Alienware after I messed up something by using a disc cleaner and registry cleaner to clean a mess on account that..(this might be my next thread lol ) I've installed to many drivers? Lol..no I must had installed like 20 drivers in the last week...Casio workstation,Xponent, but when I went for a Pinaccle Dazzle video to usb interface to connect my new GO PRO camara (this is it guys..the answer to "What camara should I use".it feeds live HD,and ataches anywhere.but I got the v1 which uses a small AV cord to RCA.works great! )...but when i installed the dazzle...the internal webcam messed up.got it back but not the creative Live Central app to control it.so I added a HD external that has its own control and forced it to open my internal cam so I could change the picture back to color (Ha! was stuck in black & white mode) Cause I want multiple camara shots, all running from VDJ...(plus the midi clock? imao)..Ha! like I sayd in someones elses thread..I'm hooking up the "WHOLE STINKING HOUSE" to VDJ...now's hows that for a test?..
