It's similar to user moaning about the number of cracked users there are. I was one of these as well 2/3years ago. I soon realised while it's great to be passionate about something you love using (VDJ), us as users don't make policy. Therefore we shouldn't comment on what we think is right or wrong.

Everyone will always have their own opinion but Atomix rule the roost here. Time to give up the debate and let things lie.

im just having a discussion on a discussion board...and was curious to how VDJ looked at what has happened around them. Didnt mean to upset people but just discuss about it. So i put my thought up here just to see what others think. I wanted to know. So i asked. Why are people so sensitive? you can lock the thread if it touching so many nerves....sheesh.....truth is when i was in search for a dj software everybody was talking about how at low cost you still rock a party but now the dynamic has changed and a lot of answers are more about dont worry about policy, stop moaning and so on where is that stream of why i should pick vdj now its just dont worry about it, you cant change policy, you dont own an international company why do you figure you can comment on our business. I love this software and want it to be around so i can enjoy those updates. I cant say that on this forum. I see other software repositioning themselves because of VDJ, I cant say that? If not this is a very undiscussable General Discussion Forum....but the 100 for lifetime updates did kinda answer my question....

Sometimes it's not that people are sensitive. It's down to the wording/phrasing of the original post, and the fact that we're communicating in text only.

There are no audible clues because we can't hear your voice. We just have to go on what's been written. Unless things are worded carefully, people can misinterpret or misunderstand your message.

It's terse vs verbose. If you keep your post short, it's easy to read but is potentially more open to misunderstanding. OTOH if you go into lots of details in order to prevent misunderstandings, it then loses the spontaneity and you can't see the wood for the trees.

This is life on the 'net. C'est la vie.

Bro if it aint an actual member of the Atomix team complaining about what your saying I wouldn't even sweat em...........

Look, all I was saying is as users we dont make the decision. Atomix does- this is never going to change.

I'm all for discussion but as is usually the case on these types of topics it spirals.

But as I said at the end of my last post - everyone will have their own views on pricing and crack users and whether V8 should be out all ready but at the end of the day that is the individual's opinion. Atomix still make policy.

Just as a side note- if Atomix was to reduce their prices can you imagine the fall out from everyone that has recently paid full price?

Virtual DJ is too expensive? This is some kind of joke, right? Let's try to stick to the facts, and not forget the history of DJ software. I paid full price for this software, $99.00. Yeah it was awhile ago, and a show special. The other companies were offering show specials also. The difference was, I got a software that could play audio, video and karaoke, right then. Not two, three, four years later. I was mixing videos the next day, and have not looked back. Yes, I bought a pro sound card for my tower, but did not need to. I could use any sound card on the market, including the internal one. I could also use the Numark DMC 1 controller. This was very good, as like most DJs, I was transitioning from a dual CD player. I have not had to spend another dime. All upgrades, have been free. So, let's pick another software to compare. At the time, Serato Scratch Live was free. A lot of good that would do me, because you could only use their interface. So free, was not so free after all. The interface at the time was $400.00 I believe. But I could not do video, or karaoke. I could only use it on one computer, and no controllers were available. If something were to happen to the interface, there would be silence. Years would go by, as man started to walk upright, before they got video, and it was not a pretty sight. I mean, I don't know that personally, just what I read on their forums. But wait, there's more. The video plugin cost $200.00. What?????? Say it's not so, Rick. You think that's crazy, wait till you hear this. If you want to play video little boys, you will have to.........wait for it............wait for it..........POW, buy this brand spanking new, Rane mixer, for just $1400.00, if you call in the next ten minutes. Get da puck outta here. I already have a four channel Rane MP 24 mixer, now I gotta buy another two channel mixer? Now don't tell anyone I told you this, but I heard that most of them were not happy with the plugin, so they had to buy...........Mix Emergency for another $150.00. Is there a pattern going on here? Mo Money, Mo Money, Mo Money. Hey kids, you want to upgrade to the next level, the SL2? Pow, Mo Money, Mo Money, Money. I got something new for you, The SL3. It's gonna cost you. Wait, the SL4 is out, do I get that upgrade? Mo Money, Mo Money, Money. I want to use some more video codecs, can you help me out? I got bronchitis, ain't nobody got time for dat. However, if you want to use one of these new fangled controllers, I got a new software for you, it's called Itch. What kind of name is that???? Well you know, Scratch, Itch. It kind of goes together. Oh I see, that's brilliant. So, is that a free upgrade? Yo, this ain't Virtual DJ, everything cost Mo Money. Wait, we changed our minds. That whole Itch thing, is not gonna work. We got a new jam, and it's called Serato DJ. Now, Virtual DJ Pro is $300.00. I can not buy a new car, for the same price I paid, for the last one. If you catch us at the show, it's $200.00, and you can still use any controller and any sound card. You can not say that about Serato. Do the math. I personally don't care which software you use, as I am not a stockholder in this company. I don't even concern myself with the way they run the company, because it is none of my business. I do believe in it, and have no problem selling it. It gives me the ability to work four nights a week in clubs, and I still do mobile work. This software is not food, you do not need it to live. If you can't afford it, too bad. You don't see me crying because I can't afford that Bentley that I want.

whew...did i start something here? I was just curious. funny tho...

Overall, Virtual DJ is Cheaper but, Serato Can be cheaper to. If You buy a used NS6, NS7 or any controller that used Itch software, Serato DJ is a Free Upgrade (That's if You want to DJ Audio and nothing else). Virtual DJ has Video with No extra Fee and serato does. You pay $149 for the video plugin. For Virtual DJ, If you Buy any controller that doesn't come with the software (NS6, NS7, DDJ SX, VCI 300,etc), You still have to buy the software unless you buy a controller that comes with it and then you pay to upgrade to the pro version. From a Serato DJ Intro based Controller to Serato DJ (Upgrade is $129) Serato Can get very expensive based on what type of setup you preffer to use. That's only based on a bigger setup where you have to use a serato Audio interface or a Serato Integrated Mixer. Cost is based on what you want to get.

The above are my 2 Top-Pick Comments on this thread.

It is simple. You get what you pay. Starting price for vdj pro is more because it does more. The big advantage of vdj is the the free updates

Its bugged out is..at one time the argument was why pay those extra cost. Now it has changed to its worth the extra cost and but if you look at it this way. just was humoring myself. But i love virtual dj for real.

#fartnoises

thats all i have left to say on this subject!!!

Have you been drinking? :-)

Lol nope, this is me ... just as me lol

Virtual DJ is actually the most expensive Software on the market. These other softwares have pulled a fast one. So will VDJ8 make the extra 100 or so dollars worth it? I remember when i bought VDJ one of the main points was is serato or Traktor that much better to pay the price for. I chose VDJ because for the price it gave me more. But to new users now they will ask themselves is VDJ worth the extra money.

simply...No

Simply.......you are only able to speak for yourself. It would seem to me, that this is a choice each individual has to make.

I have a dandy Idea, Just buy all the different software packs out there for all the different makers of their product.

Sure some other DJ's Hold Serto as a golden egg and maybe traktor as a close second. BUT i am patiently waiting for VDJ 8..

BTW. I do own Serato, and Traktor softwares and they all have their pros and cons.

I could only hope that VDJ 8 is going to be a game changer that is going to make those hard core Serto and traktor users jump ship....

While this is wishful thinking...

I use what ever software I want, depending on the limits of my controllers.. and such. ;) I am keeping my options open. but what ever the cost is for VDJ if you think its too pricy. Well... I just ordered some more flight cases for gear... and one flight case to protect 2 light fixture, was close to 400 dollars. I think the light fixture was only 340.00 a unit. Sure the case was more expensive than the light. BUT, now I know that my light will safely travel in a trailer where ever I want to go. So put it all into perspective.

Edited... sorry.
