Topic: Multiple Screens?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Is there a way to, for example, run say a music video on one screen while showing clipbank on another? My x51 is the first computer I've had that can run 3 displays so I'm looking to see how flexible my options are. Thanks!!!

You could get a quad/matrix splitter, and feed out to your screens that way. But obviously you will need to have the appropriate inputs married up to it.

But no way of doing it native from VDJ? Right now I'm doing your awesome clipbanks & music videos on one screen then a windows slideshow on the other. Just thought it might be nice to have a few more options without needing additional hardware

Well, you could use the output from VDJ as your first and use Firetext free plugin as another output for your slide show amongst other aspects of the plugin, free sms etc

You could then add your computers own output for say your video ads.

Hmmmn... Interesting!

What's the price range of this one?

How's the latency when switching from one display to the other?

That monitor extender looks hella cool, but I still don't think it will do what I want. I am very invested at this point in the clipbank plugin using my launchpad s to control it, makes switching between animations, the promo vids or clients home movies for weddings a breeze. However, I also occasionally switch from clipbank to a music video (with another button on my launchpad to disengage clipbank), and if I use firetext, then when I make that switch from clipbank to music video I start getting video errors upon reengaging the clipbank. VDJ can see all three of my monitors in the video options, but I can only select one of the three to output video on. I guess VDJ just can't do it right now, don't get me wrong having an extra monitor to work with has already increased my options, though it'll still be nice if VDJ would support multiple outs

do you have a vga plug and an hdmi output on your laptop? there ya go, 3 way.

I may be wrong, but I think what the original poster is asking is can VDJ output two or three different video plug ins. He has the output potential with his hardware but needs the option of running say clipbank and videos at the same time and routing them to his different outputs.

Could you do it by running 2 copies of VDJ at the same time?

That's exactly what I meant. I figured it wasn't possible, though I hope this is something that could be added in a future update.

On another note, as I'm kick starting my music video collection and playing alot more of them I've had to change some of my config to suit. I switched from manually turning on & off clipbank plugin to the option "use for audio files", added new mappings on the launchpad for video plugin select, auto transition & manual transition. Firetext is running much better now over my videos & clipbanks, though I've still had some video card errors at the very end of a couple sets. Gonna troubleshoot it more after my next gig (a week from tonight). Also gonna step up my live video feed option (since I can now support a 3rd computer display) by bying a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 to replace the camcorder & use VLC to run the feed while I randomly snap pictures of the floor. That's the plan at least after the next paycheck;^]
