As already explained above, the files within a virtual folder cannot be organised into a specific custom order. They can only be sorted by artist, title, BPM, etc. depending on which sort column heading you click on (The default is 'smart' as already explained.) You will need to use a playlist to have files in a specific custom order.

It could be possible in a future version to also store the relative positions of virtual folders stored on an external drive, so that their order is kept when the drive is plugged in (E.g: Folder Pop is #20 in the list, it will put it at that position if possible on any system the drive is plugged into, or at the bottom if the system has less than 20 folders.)

You can ask for this to be considered for a future version in the wishes and new features forum.


I'll submit the request. It would also be great if we could add a function so that when you right click on the main virtual folder that their be a selection to display all subfolders in alpha numeric order.
 
I just finally got my files pre sorted and organized and synced up, my plan was to keep most of my EDM sorted only using virtual folders and keep it out of itunes however i was quickly greeted with virtual folders which often did not want to drag where I wanted it to, or contents would go missing. I have had files and folders alike go missing. I put 5 tracks in a folder for a xmas grand march, got to the gig only 3 were in there.

My files on my PC are external (always plugged in and partitioned exactly like my laptop), using bittorrent sync ithese files are shared to my laptop where the intent is to have an exact working copy... well thats not working.

I have heard temp fixes were to base your virtual folder out of my documents, then you can mooe it wherever. Anyone try that and have luck? I would love to use these folders but as it sits right now thats out of the question.
