Hey VirtualDJ programmers,
Just wondering. Considering different ways to go, as far as upgrading my laptop, and I was wondering if you could tell us if our machines will benefit from more RAM memory for Virtualdj 8? Like beyond 4 GB? Have an opportunity to upgrade my Windows 7 32bit OS to 64bit. 32Bit uses just a little less system memory, but only supports upto 3.5 GB of RAM. My system can be updated to 8 GB of RAM, and is 64bit OS capable for hardware and driver support. Given VDJ is 32bit thus far, and I don't really run video, is there value in going to the 64-bit version of Windows 7 in order to allow for a larger memory upgrade in the future, for VDJ 8.0?
Just wondering :)

lager ram is always better, not only for vdj 8. the requirements for the new version should be similary to v7. but just as i said...if you have the the opportunity for using more ram....use it...;-)

don't just get more RAM, get faster ram... You're system will throttle it at it's max speed anyway. 4gb is more then enough for VDJ7 as it's not that processor or memory hungry, but faster RAM will mean your tracks load faster and scan faster when adding multiple files at once. I would definitely max out your RAM to 8gb though it will make your experience of using your computer much better.

you also should take care of your graphics card. if you are working with hi res skins or vids this can be a essential performance issue even if someone“s using 100Gb RAM...;-)

I would think the skin engine of the current version just uses the CPU as it's only made of image sprites with very little physics, It has been said that VDJ8 will have full direct x support so that may push the skin processing to the GPU, But a good video card isn't needed now, just the standard intel4000 is enough. I doubt that you would need anymore GPU processing power even for the new version unless you use multiple video effects at the same time.
