Good question. I set up a friends new Sony Win 8 machine last night, and no matter what we did the DPC latency was in the yellow with red spikes.
All my machines are Win 7 and run low in the green.
Not sure if it's a driver or running services issue.

Try this tool: http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/16006/VirtualDJ_PC_Optimizer.html
It was created for Win 7/Vista but has been tested on 8/XP with good results

I already tried the tool on the Win8 system but it threw up a lot of errors.

Errors can be common but do not hurt anything. It just means that the services listed are not available on that specific machine or it has a different name in Win 8. It will still kill the process in the background that it finds

I have always used Black Vipers tips for all my dj rigs - just google it
I also use Razer game boost - it shuts down everything you dont need in the background and its free

I had a hell of time with Win8 & NS7 doing videos, it would lag & skip on loading... then I did some updates and now it works perfectly.
MSI GE60 - i7 - NVIDIA 650 2 GB - 1TB HD - 8 GB Ram, best bang for the buck in my opinion, although I would like a backlit keyboard.
