Topic: Latest VCI 400 firmware... Do we need to update the Virtual DJ mapping and definition?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi all, so I know a little while ago vestax updated the vci400 firmware but it came with the condition that "once it has been updated you will only be able to use it with Serato DJ". I use both programs but at the moment, with the old firmware, I can't use the hardware mixer functions and the LED UV meters don't work in Serato DJ.

It works great with Virtual DJ as it is, but it's the hardware mixer thing I'm missing. I know that they updated the DDJ-SX mapper so that it worked in "Serato mode" with virtual dj, I was wondering if there are any plans to do the same with the vci 400?

Also, has anyone put the new firmware on and tried it with virtual dj? I guess most of it will probably still work the same anyway, but I don't fancy trying it since I've got a few gigs coming up soon and don't wanna risk breaking anything.

I tried the new firmware, it all worked but I downgraded again because the 'stand alone' mixer functionality was actually pretty unwanted for my setup. I want the line ins to be routed as deck in Virtual DJ and that wasn't working as expected. It basically always mixes the inputs, the standalone feature isn't disabled when running on the computer.

How strange, I thought that's what the switches on the back were for! Since it seemed to work maybe I'll give it a go and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply :-)
