I have a current dilemma which I need some 'sound' advice for. My Numark Ns7 has been great to me over the years however recently I noticed that the headphone port shuts off after 5 minutes of playing. It starts out by crackling then just fades out.
This is pointing to a hardware issue from all present indicators, contacted Numark they referred me to the support dealer however I reside in Jamaica and the dealer is located in FL.
Now for the million dollar question, I have a Mackie FX8 mixing board, can Virtual DJ point the headphone port to the Mackie and I use this as headphone? Your quick responses will be appreciated.

Yes and no.
If you are using the Mixing board as your main mixer (NS7 output is going through it) then it headphone monitoring will not work the way you want it to. The USB input will be heard through the headphones, but only with everything else going to the main output of the Mackie.
It's strange how inflexible the design is, especially for a Mackie, but according the their diagram the headphones only monitor the main mix output, and even if it could listen to a separate bus, there is no way to route the USB input to a separate bus for monitoring.
However, if you mean that you want to use the Mackie solely for monitoring, then it will work fine. It is kind of a waste to do it this way though, as you can get a small USB device that will accomplish basically the same task.
I hope this info is helpful,

Thnx for the response frd1963,
Now the immediate solution you are suggesting is just get a usb card then point the headphone to this device via VDJ. Will I end up with high latency issues as I know this can be an issue. I also have a Hercules MK2 which I have not used in years, do you think I can use it to configure your suggestion?

If you can see the output channels for the Mackie in your advance soundcard conf. then yes you can route your headphones to a channel in your mixer and just set that channel up for monitoring only which you should be able to do. And yes the MK2 also can be used, I know I also have one and it does work, but the mixer should be no problem to accomplish what your asking.
Good Luck

Great to hear you fixed your issue! Sometimes the simplest solution is the correct one.
Even better to hear that you can afford Beats!
I touched a pair once, and they felt like they would sound really nice ;)
P.S. For anyone else who is looking here for solutions, the computer's headphone output may not have the greatest sound, and may have some latency (negligible for listening,) but for cuing, it should definitely be more than sufficient! I wouldn't use it as a main output except in an emergency though.
