Topic: Pioneer DJ MEP-7000 CD Player - Anyone own one? Your thoughts?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I've been using a PC to DJ ever since old PCDJ Red. And I wouldn't go back to CDs. I love Virtual DJ and its ease of use.

However, I do have an affection for legacy gear. And, am interested in having a non-PC based music player in my kit.

Has anyone used the Pioneer MEP-7000? I don't see many used ones on ebay. So, either everyone who bougt one loves them, or Pioneer never sold that many. They don't ever seem to go down in price either. I am looking at a used one on ebay.

My biggest concern is that I would have to manually make playlists and without the ease and speed of say iTunes or VDJ. I have played with Pioneer DJs Recordbox software but it doesn't seem like it is compatible with this unit.

Any thoughts or opinions about this hardware would be appreciated!

Thanks!!

If it is going to be traveling a lot forget it! I a, having to take my unit back to the shop so the drives can be realigned. This will be the second time the unit goes back for realignment. Other than that it's a good unit.

Also if you're going to be mixing videos you may encounter an issue with audio pops. I've had this issue since day 1 but it may just be an issue with my laptop and pioneers driver.
