Topic: Is there any way to make your headphones louder ?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have some good loud JVC stereo headphones, and I have a numark mixtrack and when I use it I could barely hear it when cueing songs, and I have the headphones volume all the way up, so I dont know. Of course I connect my headphones to a interface I have which is DJ IO. But I dont know , I want to make it soo it could sound louder on my mixtrack. Thank you.

Just like speakers, some headphones are more efficient than others, and they also have different impedances.

If the impedance doesn't match nicely with the headphone output of whatever you're using, then it will affect the volume - especially if the headphones are not efficient.

You can get headphone amplifiers, but it's best to just use headphones that match the kit you're using.

just buy an inline headphone amplifier, you can get one that runs off batteries, or you can build on. I built one back in the day out of an altoids can...

hes right about the impedance

I have to agree, the headphone output of DJIO is so low or even some numark controllers with built-in soundcard that to include N4 and mixtrack pro.
I also agree of the impedance of the headphone affects the strength/level of the output. The higher the impedance the lower it can deliver output.

If you have an extra mixer then you can wire your DJIO to the mixer, both master and headphone (or even only headphone) then plug-in your headphone from your mixer. This way it will boost the headphone output to a reasonable level.

Or try to map a knob to "headphone_gain" to more than 50%. The more you add % the more it become distorted.

Your right ! :) , ima try cueing it from the mixer, I could probably convert the headphones jack from the dj io to a double rca cable which I can connect it to my mixer then I could cue it with no volume on it.

Thanks :)
