Hello everyone.
Me and a friend have been trying to create a setup based on the new ESI board, the Maya 44 USB+, but we’re having some problems. Here’s our setup:
Black Macbook 13’’ (MB063LL/B - 2007)
2.2GHz Core 2 Duo
4GB RAM
Mac OSX 10.6.7
http://support.apple.com/kb/sp12
Reloop RP 6000 MK5 Turntable
Numark cartdrige

Technics SL-1210 MKII Turntable
Ortofon cartdrige

Numark M4 Mixer

ESI Maya 44 USB+

Serato Performance Series Timecode Vinyl (2x)
http://store.serato.com/vinyl/performance-series/serato-performance-series-pair-black
We were able to connect everything easily enough and have tried to configure the TCV on Virtual DJ Pro Full v.7.3. We we’re not able to make it work properly, though. This is how we tried it:
On the Maya 44 Control Panel, we muted the Monitors and, with everything ‘ganged’, set the Inputs to about 30% and the Outputs to 90%. We then created an Aggregate Audio Device on Audio Midi Setup on Mac OS, selecting the Maya 44 Board (4 in / 4 out), and changing the Format to 44100 kHz 4ch-16bit and Quadraphonic Speakers.
After that we proceeded to configure VDJ. On the Settings, Sound Setup, we selected Timecodes for Inputs (Chan1&2/Chan3&4), External Mixer for Output (Chan1&2/Chan3&4) and the Aggregate Device for the Sound Card. Then we opened the Timecode config...
Now here’s where the problems started. We have tried each of the Vinyl options, focusing, obviously, on the Serato Vinyl Options and are not able to get it working. Quality of the signal is never close to 100% as we’ve seen on the forums and youtube. Although we do get some control, the decks sound flaky and not that responsive which makes them unplayable.
Not exactly what we were hoping for, this weekend. Now we need to figure out what’s going on and try to fix it. That or return everything back to the shop.
What might it be?
Is it the new soundcard?
The new serato vinyl?
Maybe the Macbook is too old and can’t handle all of this?
Can any of you guys shed some light on our problem?? Thanks in advance.
