I am one of those zany Internet DJs who uses Virtual DJ Pro Basic to broadcast. I do not use a controller device.
What I want to do is route line audio from my mixer into my PC line input, then configure Virtual DJ Pro Basic to accept the audio feed.
The problem is that every time I try to configure Input to Line In, I get ASIO Sound Card as the only configuration option.
Reading the forum posts, I discover that ASIO Sound Card refers to a driver that is used to connect a controller to the system - the driver being provided by the controller manufacturer.
So, the nine-dollar question is this:
Is there a way to configure the line input to connect only to an actual line input?
Thanks in advance!

ASIO drivers are used for sound cards. It only applies to controllers if it has a built in sound card (as some do).
I doubt you'd be seeing ASIO as an option if you didn't have an ASIO device. Do you have an ASIO sound card?
Or perhaps you installed ASIO4ALL?

Thanks for the reply, groovindj!
No ASIO card here - just a typical Soundblaster...
Could it be that I accidentally installed installed this ASIO4ALL driver when I installed VDJ Pro Basic?
If So, do I do a conditional uninstall?
I double-checked my drivers in Device Manager and looked at the uninstaller for ASIO drivers and found none.

Then there is no need to install any ASIO or ASIO4ALL drivers. Use the drivers that come with your Sound card (WDM)
If for example you have a built in sound card that has 2 stereo outputs and a Line In/Mic input the Sound Setup should be ..
Deck 1 ... Built In Sound Card ..Outs 1,2
Deck 2 .. Built In Sound Card..Outs 3,4
RecordLoopback.. Built In Sound Card .. Inputs 1,2
If you use a different USB sound card to connect your mixer and you need to route the Oututs to the LineIn /Mic Input of your computer then it should be..
Deck 1 ... USB Sound Card ..Outs 1,2
Deck 2 .. USB Sound Card..Outs 3,4
RecordLoopback.. Built In Sound Card .. Inputs 1,2

I think you've misunderstood.
He wants to route an external mixer into VDJ via line input, so he can mix the VDJ decks with it for broadcasting.
He's saying he only gets ASIO as an option on his input selection.

Well I found a temporary solution until I can determine if I can actually run an analog audio mixer as a line input directly into VDJ Pro Basic...
The solution is to install Edcast Standalone 3 on the PC running VDJ and encode both VDJ output and Line In on the sound card.
Advantages:
Metadata can be embedded into the stream, allows for the elimination of an encoding PC, I can hear the mix between VDJ and the mixer audio more clearly, I can professionally answer and broadcast Skype calls from listeners. (I use Pre Aux as a cue channel..)
Disadvantage:
Because I am unable to use the integrated encoder, Starting a stream is a bit tricky as I have to start edcast, set focus to VDJ then start an audio element in quick succession. Fortunately, I have an X-Keys keypad that is programmed with appropriate keyboard shortcuts.
Now I am wondering if my XKeys keypad (a USB device) might be the cause of my ASIO driver woes...
Mark this thread as (provisionally) solved!
