having a virtual dj faith crisis here.....
Can anyone post a video of themselves scratching using a current version of virtual dj?
No Sound scratching. Meaning No Scratching of a phrase like "YEAH" or a "Wha Sound"with no music behind it
Also No house or techno or trans style music! Preferably hip-hop or dancehall or even soca\calypso
I mean Straight Up turntabalist scratching using virtual dj and a controller to scratch bass drops, snare hits, and vocals together so you can actually hear where the scratching is accurate and its not just a bunch of noise!!!!
(what the hand and controller does the software and audio matches exactly)
i am tired of the arguments and would just like to see it being done.
i would prefer a video of your own set. but if you know of a dj video that showcases an above-mentioned style set
i would appreciate the help.
this is video is an example of what i am tired of seeing that is just not a proper representation of what i am looking for. http://youtu.be/aahEhbNXu7U
thanks in advance for your help

Here ya go... took me 45 seconds to find it. Anything else?

Not being funny, but I don't think that's what he was asking for.
You can clearly see guy is using the mouse to scratch the on screen platter on the skin. Pls he said no phrases being scratched.
I think he is looking for a video of an actual DJ, using TCV with VDJ visible while the DJ scratches.
Cheers,
Roy

Just did a YouTube search for 'vdj TCV scratch' and about 3 videos in found this.
Think it shows what you want, but may need to search further for more skills...

That's not quite it either; the scratch in is your typical wah-wah. Something you might consider is using VDJ with an SL-1 interface and a couple of turntables. Here's a video from someone comparing both VDJ and Serato and how he implements his setup to do just that (skip ahead to 6:42)
Here's another demonstration of using Serato timecodes with a VMS controller and VDJ 7
Good luck!

here is my attempt at scratching from about 6 months ago. It's using VDJ Pro 7.05b Serato CV02 vinyl, M447's and an audio 8. I have no issues with latency and my laptop is pretty poor by current standards

thanks for all the responses but the only one that came close is the the video with the ns7 and even that does not count because of the active platters.
all the videos with TCV don't count i am looking for controllers with touch activated platters. sorry if i did not make that clear at first

No argument . Its doable but much harder. If you do find a video, its skills.

Here's my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

@djbutler thanks my dude i appreciate it. i think your specs helped alot because my macbook 13" is bootcamped with 4 gigs of memory but only has a core 2 duo at 2ghz, with a 500g hd.
so until they drop 8 maybe that is the solution really is a monster pc.... i really hope they fix the latency issue in VDJ8

This demo was the best I've ever seen from the DJ Times show VDJ booth in Atlantic City.
This guy killed it on a Numark NS 7, hes part of DJ Larry D's posse.

Boss man, I'm rocking 2.3 Ghz with 8gb ram, it works fine for me. Check audio file quality, latency settings, and the fact that with static touch enabled jog/scratch wheels, if there is no resistance or torque adjustment ( like some vestax and pioneer controllers), you gotta be a bit more tactile on the scratch release.

Yeah I agree, it's in your settings. I have a Core 2 Duo and with my Mixdeck the scratching is fine. Like he said though i have to watch the release because i cant adjust the torque on the jog wheels. Ill try to post a video tonight or tomorrow.

Something that I do is a technique I call 'grounding'. I keep a finger on the actual edge of the platter touching the controller, applying pressure to make a pseudo-torque, when I need to release on point, I apply pressure to the index finger on the controller base and release. Brings me to a full stop so when I release touch control, it plays much better than just letting go. It may help until better comprehension of the platter release timing is achieved.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but here's a video I recorded a while back. I haven't been practicing scratching on my controller lately. After the 7.3 upgrade the sound is warbled when I try to scratch, and none of the tweaks that have been suggested have helped.

thanks for the input brothers but at the request of a few other djs and selectors i tried something else. i downloaded the intro version of another software and ran it it with my mixtrack pro.
I took smack picked 10 tracks ranging from bob marley's hypocrites to akon and eminem smack that to sizzla's rise to the occassion to a tribe called quest's scenario, and did basic open-fader baby scratches on both wares using the same mixtrack on the same 2 ghz core 2 duo bootcamped macbook with 4 gigs of ram.
The only thing that was different was the software!
I never used the other software before. In fact before last night I can say I have only used virtual dj in my 6-7 years of digital djing.
(truth be told i still do not get the other software)
However the other software performed 100% better fresh off the download.
I'm talking no tweaking, no adjusting, no finger release torque vectoring (no disrespect) it Just scratched!
Everything my hand did translated to the software with no jumps or release issues. (and that was with the NOT SO WELL BUILT mixtrack pro.
All i can say in closing is I love My Virtual Dj and i truly hope this is one of the FIRST issues that has been properly stomped out in THE UP COMING 8.
Looking forward to scratching "anything you can do i can do better" towards my friends that use other software!!!
