So between getting some real wood for the WeGo, and just getting to know VDJ Pro more, I want to make more use of my sampler, but (coming from a production background in Ableton and Fxpansion Geist) I find VDJs sampler to be a little lacking.
What I'm trying to do is either load a "set/group" of samples, for instance 6 different tribal loops, etc., instead of having to click each individual sampler slot.
Or, is there a way to save a set of samples to load when I load a specific song? How cool would that be if X perfectly set samples loaded with each song.
To do that correctly, it seems like the sampler should divide its slots in half: deck A has 1-6, deck B has 7-12, so that you can have cross fade groupings. This would make for a lot more real time performance ability, in that you could basically do a set from the sampler! Instead of loading an mp3, you'd load a sample set and utilize your controller as a performance instrument.
Maybe I'm missing the point of the sampler, but I think it could do so much more than it does now.
Thanks for reading,

You can do two waysfirst is to basically map out all the samples or two use the sample manager in the download section, it's in the "tools" section I believe.
(Edit) here's the sample manager, http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/1046/Sampler_Manager.html
Takes a minute to set and it could use a few tweaks but it works and works well.......enjoy

Agreed - see the Remix Decks in Traktor.
Lots of VDJ users have asked for improvements to the sampler, but nothing has happened.
Even in the forthcoming version 8 the sampler doesn't look much different.

accept that it has 99 banks, you can colour the slots and add pictures if your that way inclined.. it will lock to not only the beatgrid but the phase and you can set your own groupings. you can also edit the samples length and meta data to keep it in sync on the fly... So accept for that everything in VDJ's sampler will be the same :-P LMAO!!!

Well played Synth, well played.........lmao!!

I said it doesn't look much different.
Some of that stuff you mention isn't visible, it's functionality.
Does it have waveforms for each sample? Can it play samples in sync without needing them to be recorded from a deck first?

I'm confident that our new sampler is gonna kick some serious ass when it's all said and done..........and trust me I have been one of the voices complaining about our sampler since I started digging into it.......
And I will say that the remix decks in Traktor are worthless without that new controller. So Yes it can do some amazing things but unless you have the proper tools it's really no better.......in my opinion.

Yeah it "looks" pretty average... but luckily you don't look at it you listen to it and the functionality is much more useful than the GUI, although waveforms would fill in the space nicely.

Cool, I'm glad there is some development happening on the sampler. Do any of the features you mentioned allow for any multi sample loading?
The 99 banks is interesting. Would that allow for us to pre generate some sample banks and then play through a set, switching banks as we go?

If my memory serves me right, I think in one of the videos they mentioned you would be able to make folders for different sample banks. I don't think they ever got into the loading but like I said before I'm confident our new sampler is gonna kick ass....

My Sample randomizer is the killer, I do not have to be memorizing sampler keys, What I did was wrote a small batch random file copier. then group my samples in different folders, (like horns, laser, jingles, pullup etc..). Then map my sampler key F1 to F12 to load and play sample. So my randomizer file changes the sample for each sampler key every 15 sec, (can be adjusted). Therefore every time i press a sampler key, I get a different sample. I submitted it as a tool, but was rejected. So far every time I show other dj, they ask me for a copy. If any one is interested let me know.

That sounds like a good enough workaround to me. Have you had any performance issues when running that randomizer? I do a lot a weddings so stability is much higher priority than anything sampler related.

I have this randomizing 10 sample every 15 sec, My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite with Intel i3, 3g ram, win764 and never had a glitch (I do videos and text to screen) my cpu load running randomizer alone is 2 to 3 %., Runining vdj with video and text to screen 15 to 20 % Replied to your PM so I will customize for you setup.

I Would like to try the Randomizer.
