Topic: Noob question: Can VDJ export data to a spreadsheet?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'm new to VirtualDJ and was wondering if it has a feature that allows you to export all the data it generates for music videos (title, artist, length, BPM, etc.) into a spreadsheet program like Excel or Google Docs.

I have a ton of music videos I want to keep track of in a spreadsheet I can access anywhere in Google Docs and rather than typing in all the info manually it would be a huge time saver if I could just export the data that VDJ generates.

the database is an XML file which is just TXT file.

That's a start.

I believe XML files can be read by most database programs like Excel, but how do you get to it in VDJ? I don't see an "export file" option anywhere (I'm using the home version right now).

Can anyone share where the file is located?

C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\VirtualDj\VirtualDj Database V6.xml

Also on the root of each drive that contains media files you should find a file named "VirtualDj Local Database V6.xml"

I would recommend backing up the database files (on each drive that you store your media) before opening them with another program. If excel opens it, and you save it, it may reformat it into something VDJ does not agree with. After that you may be rebuilding your whole database.
