How do I edit video? I need to clip some off from the beginning.

I have imovie but do not know how to use it. I am hoping there is a free video editor out there that works like audacity. I want to be able to see the video, chop off parts I don't want and merge parts that I do.

Any ideas?

Since you have iMovie, I assume you have a mac. Being linux and windows based, I can't recommend any software, but I have heard good things about iMovie. You may want to start here.

Thanks.

I have a mac and a PC.

I would rather do all my editing and other work on the PC and save my macs for dj'ing

I use Adobe Premier Elements. Not free, but fairly simple to use.

If all your looking to do is cut out parts of a movie, then Windows Movie Maker should work. I haven't used it for a while so I can't remember what file types work with it.

Not free, but Sony Vegas is a fantastic bit of software, lots of people on here use it. The reason it's great is because it knows how to handle LOTS of video formats so you won't be getting "unsupported file format" errors and it's pretty intuitive to use.

The basic version is $50 so not worth it if it's only for one job, but if you think you'll use it a few times I'd say it was worth the investment.

Sony Vegas...it is worth it in the long run.Plenty of Youtube tutorials to learn from also

I gotta learn imovie. Sony vegas is EXPENSIVE!!!

I have imovie on 2 macbooks so I just need to learn how to use it.

Certain VDJ skins will let you do a manual edit (pick your starting (Entry Point) and ending points (Exit Point)), to do this, you go up to the BPM button (located top right hand corners above turntable decks) and left click it and within the Adjust BPM Values box, go to Edit AutoMix. Once you do this it will save it for future play in your VDJ database, so you won't have to reset the start and ending points again...unless you choose to. note: *Not all skins will do this.

OOps...this was for music videos played with VDJ...sorry...not sure if it will do that for an imovie played within VDJ....
