First..sorry for my very bad englsih !!
With mp3gain you destroy the sound of the mp3- because the the programm make the gain in a middle gain, not complete anylyse , only a little "bit" ..
Let hte songs in the original gain, an click in VDJ " Autogain"...
so you have the mp3 original, and not "pimped" , so some songs you make it bad
try it with "Celine Dion - My heart will go on" her the original wenn it go the the loud refrain, an dann hear the "pimped" version with mp3 gain....its very bad....
Many greets from germany

93db I found to be best but with Vdj working on the sound engine and sound cards in the new controllers been better eg Rmx 2 etc you might be better at 91

Cd´s have alltimes other DB.
so, its better to keep the original db in the mp3.

I have used mp3gain at 94db for years now with VDJ auto gain disabled completely.
In my opinion it doesn't degrade the MP3, all it does is take an average gain then adjust the header.

Whatever happened to lighting fires with sticks and riding horses instead of having a car?

I wouldn't use mp3gain. I've been told it re-levels the entire track which is not good like my man up top said. Some parts of the track aren't supposed to be raised. I for one use VDJ's auto gain and my ears. Plus it depends on your source. If the track is shit to begin with nothing is gonna help it.
My advice, use only trusted sources and use VDJ's auto / remember........ Good Luck

I ran my collection of Mp3's through the program last night. (Notice I said tracks not albums, you don't want the album completely leveled out
imo)......Results: MANY of my Mp3's were already clipping upon analysis some up to 100+ dbs......I reset them to 92 db target, and in turn the
software turned them all into a range of between 89 to 92db...No more clipping!!.....They all sound nice and bright in VDJ and even the ones
the dbs were lowered on sound better......The Bad Part: I think the resetting of the dbs somehow affects the compression of the waveform in
VDJ (or any waveform display)....the waveforms are there and correct, but a bit smaller and harder to Visually decipher where the vocals,
subtleties in the track are.....That is something that I hope can be adapted to, or the new VDJ 8 hopefully will be color coded a-la
Serato......Either way, if you don't like the results simply run the tracks again, anytime and it will undo any changes that were made.....
** Update, I ran all of em back through and hit "undo"......Just didnt sound right, VU meters were way off....I won't recommend.....Live and learn.. =D

Please bear in mind that if you externally adjust the gain of a song that has already been previously analysed by VirtualDJ using a tool such as MP3gain, you will need to re-scan the song again in VirtualDJ to take the new adjustment into account, otherwise the adjustment as previously determined by VirtualDJ will no-longer be correct and the song will either be quieter or louder than it should be.

Thank you for the heads up mysterious "Support Staff Teamer", but wouldn't that fact of "needing to reanalyze within VDJ" be negated if the tracks were not played in VDJ (there by updating the file) and were instead reverted to there "before" state (via undo in the option dropdown) in Mp3Gain?.........That is one of the few reasons I used this product, I could Undo and SEE the outcome of that undo...I would buy Atomix SOAP if it was sold,(maybe) but I was just trying a bit of experimentation and I reported my negative results......
** btw....tracks analyzed by MP3 Gain as "clipping" sound much better in their original "clipped state"......than "leveled"......not quit understanding that, but , I'll go with it.....

By the way you still need to gain every track when mixing to match the volumes but it's better for background music when your not there monitoring it.

Hopefully VDJ 8 will have the ability to use VST plugins on the master output signal, so that a multi band compressor could be used live.

We need Vdj 8 to come out to take thing further I pretty board of my pa

Find a GOOD source and get your tracks from there then set VDJ to auto/remember and then use your meters on your mixer. If your controller doesn't have them I'd say you need to upgrade your equipment pronto........

By "good source" Beat, are you talking 320kbs and up?....Is that the "standard?"......Do the VU Meters represent the volume going out or the gain levels of the deck?.....thanks.....
