Topic: recording the line in AUX with the button REC.

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

i have a problem finding the file created if there is or if i have to re record what i recorded while pressing the rec line in on virtualdj 7 pro. i like to record my beatbox and make loops with several decks that i record the line in (mic) ...but where is the rec1 file that was made that appears in the sidelist that i ONLY have the option to DELETE it ?

thanks.

The AUX REC button in the default skin only creates a temporary file.

A workaround is this...
Goto to RECORD page, select the path and the name of the file to be recorded, and disable the option to ask if overwrite.
Then assign a keyboard button as ..
deck 1 linein_rec & record
But, each time you need to record something new, you will need to change the record filename in order not to overwrite your previous recordings

thanks DAD will they correct this in V8??? guess it would help.. ;.) in fact what i need to do is to be able to record my mic or line on different deck to compile and make my own music while scratching, beat juggling and adding fx .

You can already do that and here's how,

Then just record how you normally would and you should be good to go.........

Enjoy
Huey

P.S. ive never tried a mic and line in at the same time but if you have a decent soundcard it should work.

I'm just using the laptop's card it's a dell studio windows 7 with 2 output and a line/mic in .. that i switch to mic and record as AUX then i beat box and make a loop of my beat and go to other decks and make other things and compile to make my song.
recording loops and samples i have made beat boxing.
like i said the only option for me was to record the whole MIX or to play each decks separated and have a single file. what i wanted is to have the separated temporary files created by the AUX RECORD to be able to put them on a multitrack (Adobe audition)
as if i was doing a live set and have to change what's in the decks i would loose the "instruments" i have made.
I also have a motu sound card but didn't experiment on it yet..

ps : i keep loosing the subjects i post on the forum .. i don't know how i can follow when i post if i receive something in my inbox?? i pressed the bell on the posted message but at the end i'm force to scan through the whole forum to see where my post is.

to say it here .. every time i start virtualDJ the microphone is by default ON which creates a feedback on the laptop (it picks up the internal mic signal) i want to make VDJ start with the microphone OFF. thanks

Turn it off (or low) in the Windows mixer. VDJ looks at your Windows setup so if the mic is off, VDJ won't turn it on.

I was focusing on the software that i could control by registry or some other ways, because it's the fact that it stars with the mic ON and full volume was hopping to have some command to tell the software "this is the settings that i would like to have on start up.

and sorry... thanks for the answer that i wanted to have about the AUX recording .. that is just a temporary file.. so i have to record the whole session at the same time and if i want to recuperate the samples i have made it would be at the beginning of my overall recording.
hope a new upgrade of VDJ will have the ability to get a hand on those temporary files!!
GREAT JOB GUYS >>> CHEERS.
