I am new to the whole world of midi controllers and digital Dj'ing but I have come to the understanding that it is possible to "Map" the keys on a DJ controller to perform certain functions in a software. I'm looking into the VMS4.1, but don't feel the need for the 2 extra decks (which i heard are mainly for if you have a computer crash and need a back up, correct me if I'm wrong). Anyways, I was wondering if it is possible to map the eq section and faders for the third and fourth decks to perform other functions such as samples, que points, effects etc in Traktor Pro. Any help would be great.
Thanks
I'm not looking for any Mappings just wondering if this can be option if I do purchase the VMS4.1

First off - are you asking in the right forums?
You asked about Mappings - but the title says 'Traktor' ...
So, which is it - VirtualDJ Mappings or Traktor?

My apologies, i meant to say virtual DJ, but am wondering if the same thing can be applied to Traktor as well.

Yes, if you purchase VirtualDJ PRO you will be able to re-map any of the elements on the unit to do other options. But you will need the PRO Full version to do this.

Thanks, and in terms of Traktor its the same?

yes is the answer no mater if it's for Traktor or VDJ they also send midi so if not used anyway for audio why not take them in use for other purposes. Any way you can use all 4 decks in VDJ and Traktor and in traktor you could deck C/D or 3/4 depends on what you call tem to controll the sample players.
anyway http://www.djtechtools.com/forum/ would be a better place to ask about traktor or even NI forum

On another note, is there advantages to having 4 decks when not using any extra ipod/turntable/cd hookups?

4 decks can be used in many ways for mashups you could have the accapella. a beat in one then an other song in the 3. and a 4. could be used for a cool hook lick to use as a chorus. or cue point juggling between all 4 decks there are endless options. at first I only used 2 decks but as I got used to my VMS4 I started adding the extra 2.
you can still have a setup of 4 decks and have cd or ipod connected to a channel just switch on the front from usb to analog and you can use the external source.

I thought it was already mapped to sampler function? Either way, to customize mappings in VDJ you will need the Pro version..
