I use a 256 gig Solid State Hd by Corsair. It runs really good on my macbook pro and its slightly faster than a Western Digital Scropian black which is 7,200 rpm. The overall performance is top notch. I can set my Latency @ 1ms and it responds quick and runs smooth.

You don't have frig issues either on the S.S.HD..

What type of issues are you reffering too ?

Save yourself some money and go with a Hybrid, just as fast as the real thing. I thought you were a PC Tech??

Meaning compared to standrad HD's.

Do you have one.? ...and for how long..

at beatbreaker 1 i do work on pc's & laptops (but) haven't had any experience with ssd's yet. as for the others thanx for the input

A Solid State is faster than a 7,200 rpm Hd & slightly faster than a Hybrid. it will last for many years and even if you drop it, it will still work. No moving parts and start up is really fast. I had a 7200 rpm hd on my mac and now i have a solid state. I am happy with the performance.

If you want a real performance boost, a SSD is the way to go.
I would never go without one anymore.
I'm running an Intel SSD and I'm very satisfied.

I had installed an intel SSD a few years ago onto my gateway laptop and It definitely helped the performance of windows but I didn't notice any difference using it with VDJ, my songs load and scan times remained the same. Also my battery time improved and heat temps went down slightly.

As far as file protection an SSD will protect your files better since it has no moving parts, so if you were to have a drunk drop your laptop during a gig the hard drive should be fine unless a 1000 pound gorilla decides to step on it.

I know there are many brands of SSDs out there but I would only trust intel SSDs, most of the other brands use cheap controllers and as you begin to write files to the hard drive the read and write time slow down. Intel's SSDs haven't had this issue. Go on the tech websites and do your research before you buy, Not all SSDs are made equal!! You know what they say "You get what you pay for"
