From time to time I have to update some of the information in the ID3v2 tags of my Mp3 files and I've discovered a couple issues that I seem to be unable to fix. I did find a post here entitled "If you experience some problems with mp3 tags" and while I did not use iTunes, I found a different piece of software to make sure that all ID3 tags are version 2.4.
Also I noticed that in some instances VirtualDJ seemed to prefer to take information from the IDv1 tag so I used a separate piece of software to remove the IDv1 tags for all mp3 files (I only have and use mp3 files) so all files now have only ID3v2 version 2.4 tags.
To start, the first issue is that in some instances where I've updated information in the ID3v2 title or artist fields that information is not reflected in the file browser / database. If I right click on the folder in the "File System / Folder Structure Panel" and select "Scan for tags" the information is not updated in the browser / database and still appears incorrectly.
Second, there are a number of files (the exact number of which I don't know but at least 3 or 4 per folder) that do not appear in the file browser. I've double checked these files in WinAmp and the ID3v2 tag appears correct but nothing I do seems to make them visible in VirtualDJ.
Thanks,
- Mario
BTW - I'm using VirtualDJ Pro 7.0.5 (b370)

Hi Jimmybat,
Once in the database VDJ wont be updating your tag information, which is kinda sucky if you perform constant maintenance on your tags. Thats why I made this tool: http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/13224/VDJFlacTags.html to re-synchronize your ID3 tag into the VDJ database. You can even update your comment2 field with custom fields, like track & discnumber which are unknown in VDJ.
This also works for FLAC and WMA files.
Hope this helps!

So that plugin works with mp3's aswell?? If so you should really name it something else cause I thought it was only for flac files........that's how the title comes across to me anyways.
Have to try it out

Huey,
You are absolutely right! It started out as a tool for just flac, but lots of other problems solved with it by now.
I should indeed update it but last time it took a month for the tool to be accepted in the first place. Any Atomix person out there who can help me make that process a little faster?
Thx!

Hi JBoelage:
I just tested your addon and its appears to have worked perfectly. The files that were incorrect in the database have been updated and the files that were missing are now there.
Thanks for your help and hard work on this addin.

@blue:
I use
- mp3tag: http://www.mp3tag.de/ for batch converting filenames into tags
- Jaikoz Audio tagger http://www.jthink.net/jaikoz/ for auto updating tags, cleaning up tags and renaming files and folders based on tags
- Similarity http://www.music-similarity.com/ for finding duplicate audio files on tags or acoustic fingerprint
- Mixed in Key 5 http://www.mixedinkey.com/ for scanning keys
- My own VDJFlagTags to update all that cleaning back into VDJ
But... if you have 130K files to clean, better get ready for a huge job, cause auto updating tags isnt gonna get your colllection clean. It needs a strategy and lots of manual work to get it truly manageable.
Good luck!!
