Gang -
I have a bucket load of kroke files and some are titled very badly.
What other video formats can VDJ use to see besides converting to mp4?
Is there a way VDJ can 'see' he underlying MP3 and takd data from there?
Thanks!

If tags are set on the MP3 file then they should be read by VirtualDJ and used.
Otherwise the filename will be used instead, which must be in the format Artist - Title to be parsed into the correct fields in VirtualDJ.
For video, only tags in MP4 files are supported by VirtualDJ. MP3+G karaoke converted to MP4 video is likely to be bigger than the original MP3+G and will also show up in the browser as a normal music video file instead of karaoke with its own different icon.

Ok, so if I tidy up all the MP3 tags, VDJ will use that?
Sounds simple enough... :)
But all three must jive... mp3, cdg, and zip filename?

I don't believe VDJ reads the tags if they are .zip files. It uses the filename instead.

Best method, All three should match...
Good Luck,

The best solution is to ensure that they are both tagged AND named correctly.
The files (MP3, CDG and ZIP if zipped) must all have exactly the same name.
NOTE: With today's large hard drives, zipping is not really necessary. With the files unzipped you should be able to use tagging software such as Tag&Rename to bulk tag and rename the files.

Yes, but VDJ won't see the MP3 & CDG files separately, will they?

It will see them just fine providing that they both have the same name and are in the same folder as each other, e.g:
ABBA - Dancing Queen.mp3
ABBA - Dancing Queen.cdg
VDJ will also be able to read the tags from the MP3 with no problems.
As above, with today's large hard drives, zipping is not really necessary anymore.

Converting to mp4 is so much easier, keeps everything standard with your other music and video files....I just put "Karaoke" in the ALBUM field (and my videos I put "Video" and my audios I put "Audio" and this way I don't need to worry about the icons and when I use tag and rename to mass tag can match all three at the same time.
