OK So I have a NUMARK M6 mixer, I want to record a mix with virtual dj using my external mixer( i have it hooked up to comp via gigaport hd soundcard).
I Tried recording using a rca to headphone jack from my mixers rec out to my computer mic in,- This resulted in very poor quality unlistenable, same with the other headphone jack in (spdif). The setting in vdj7, I was in advance config and chose recordloopback then i only ihave 2 options to choose from (Primary sounddriver or the spdif)
Is quality bad becuase i dont have a line in on my computer and if not how can i record????
Please help is appreciated!!!!

I would try turning the line in volume down, go to control panel -> audio devices -> volume. I'm pretty sure spdif is the digital input, so choose primary sound driver for the normal one.

A line input connection must be used for recording. Normally the mic socket of a laptop is a combined mic/line input which will automatically switch depending on what's plugged into it. Make sure you have used a 2x RCA to STEREO 3.5 minijack cable. Also, check in your sound card's control panel. You may need to manually set it to be a line input rather than mic input.

Alright I tried this as well and it does not work. I have a djm 400 and pioneer CDJ 400s. Everything works fine except that it won't play back in window media player (time runs like its recording, it saves it as well) so I can't even listen to my mixes. Whats up with that. I am getting upset because everything I try never works. Recording is not as simple as it should be for any program. I have tried presonus, cubase, sound recorder, and now vdj and have yet to get a recording. So I am seriously about to give up please help. I know its probably me but it seems nothing I do works and I research and do what my research suggests but nothing sorry if I am ranting I am so frustrated how hard should it be just to record and burn to a cd a live mix you know

you need to make sure you have set a record loopback in advanced config then select your input source as primary sound capture driver, if your using the mic/line input on your computer to record, if it is an external soundcard choose that instead. Then just config the recording how you want it and where you want it to go, then just press record and start your mix. You can use other programs to record, personally I use Audition, but in all the programs you need to route the input into the program, vdj is no different.

Two Cdj 400s, djm 400 mixer, krk monitor is my set up. I downloaded the drivers from pioneer for the 400, I have a line in on my computer coming from the second set of rca on the 400 mixer. How should my settings go. A pic like the last one would be great. Even a simple tutorial

Sorry I haven't got cdj's to show you but when doing advanced config you need to configure all the ins and outs. Once that is done just switch the cdj to midi and it should work. For the 'record loopback' either feed the master or record from the djm back into vdj using a dual rca to headphone adapter
