Hi,
I have been experiencing an issue with my new laptop when running VirtualDJ 7, first of all I would start off with my specs:
Intel Core i3-370M @ 2.4GHz
4GB DDR3 RAM
320GB HDD 5,400rpm (i don't store any songs on this hard drive, i use an external wd 1.5tb hdd)
Intel GMA HD Graphics
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
While I am running background programs while VirtualDJ is running, the background program that I am trying to close just freezes the whole laptop (but the song is still playing) and to "un-freeze" the laptop, i have to hit 'Windows Key + L' which locks the computer to stop the laptop from freezing. I have to do this every time the laptop freezes while running VirtualDJ. Sometimes when I hit the config button in VirtualDJ, and close the configuration, VirtualDJ freezes and this time I will have to close VirtualDJ with Windows Task Manager. This also happens when I connect my laptop to a monitor for video mixing. I do not use any controllers or use timecode for VirtualDJ.
Any help is appreciated.

Turn off the Aero desktop in Windows (Set the theme to Windows Basic) - This causes problems like you describe due to conflicts between the special effects of Aero (Not necessary when DJ'ing) and accelerated video functions of VirtualDJ.

I tried that, but it didn't help. I also noticed it happen once with Sony Vegas Pro whilst rendering a 1080p HD video, but only for 10 seconds. Is it something to do with my laptops specs?

Something to do with Windows not handling the allocation of system resources well when doing any type of media work.

Another thing to look into is, are you running VDJ maximized, ie. are you running a smaller skin than your resolution?? I had similar freezes with VDJ ran maximized, just another thing to look into. Always run a skin that matches your screen resolution.

I don't maximize the skin. I use the default skin (1280x768). My screen resolution is 1366x768. I tried using the 1024x768 skin but it still didn't help.

It is not just VDJ, but other programs, as well. I would first look at the graphics cards, that are integrated, meaning they are sharing system memory. I don't know anything about these machines, but do they have the latest drivers, firmware, updates? Which versions are you running, free trial, cracks? Why are you not using 7.1?

I've just had a similar problem start up in the last few weeks - while loading a video the entire system freezes for up to two minutes (music still going) and then suddenly releases. I'm pretty sure I tracked it back to a problem with USB 3.0 and my video drive. When I moved the video drive over to a USB 2.0 port everything fixed up and ran as expected - but needless to say, caused me to sweat a bit during the troubleshooting!
May not be helpful to others, but worth a shot if you are using 3.0.

USB 3.0 ports are known to cause several issues to DAWs and other similar applications due to their poor chipset support and their "weird" power management. I wouldn't recommend their usage with such applications.

Hi! I have a problem with the new update. When I tried to update the software on my mac the screen (where you choose either yes or no to update now) just froze and is staying there even if I try to quit the application? Can someone help?

Update what? You can only update if you are a registered user.
