Topic: Virtual Dj 6.02 with Iphone 3g Virtual Dj app

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Okies - I've been a fan of VDj for yonks going all the way back to the Atomix days - one of my Fav. features I must admit is the playlist, being able to add songs/requests and then rather then having to remember them nad not having to use pen/paper.
I downloaded the iphone app yesturday and woooo - now this is pretty good. I've got my laptop wireless connected to a D-link router thats NOT connected to the internet - Iphone connected also to the D-link router (because as far as I can see you can't connect the iphone directly wireless to the laptop). As a main controller/sound out, I have the Hercules RMX.
From my iphone can i be anywhere in the room, add requests to a playlist, mix manually, start/stop everything pretty much I'd like to do when standing behind the disco. Move the faders on the RMX and the iphone mixer sliders move too. Yip it works. Just as it says on the tin.

Downsides that kind of need looking at...
1) When I first got excited, I charged up the app, clicking everything going, samples/faders/auto mix/ effects - iphone app froze and crashed - laptop and music carried on fine - just restarted the app and it carried on from where it was - so not really a problem, i rekon the older iphone is just a little slow (I need an iphone 4 i rekon :-) good excuse to upgrade)
2) A virtual keyboard with a search is really needed for people with larger collections of music - I use lots of the Now thats what I call music cd/mp3's and while I've got a pretty good idea where an artist might be, it would be handy to be able to search say - kylie for all her music.
3) A manual or instructions or QUICK START GUIDE would help with getting the whole thing going. Before I downloaded the app, I went on to youtube and there are a couple of video tutorials on there which told me what to do - BEFORE I DOWNLOADED THE APP. I didn't see anywhere that I would need a wireless router connection for get the phone and laptop to work together.
4) Features included - basically what it does - people might be put off the price point not actually knowing if its going to do what its supposed to. (Which it does and would be even better with the search function)
5) A developers page for feedback/new ideas etc

Soooo, given I've got a couple gripes - its going to get 9/10 - i might be being tight but hey - it is only version 1.01 :-)

...... nothing to do with the app, but my version of VDj is 6.02 and the latest is 6.03 but if i try to update it it says I am upto date, so I'm guessing the jump for .02 to .03 isnt that important.

Just downloaded the ipod skin and put my own logo on the middle of the record - heheheh

I use the VDj remote at all my gigs without a rooter. You just have to set your laptop as an add hock and connect you iPhone to it.
