Topic: Hercules MK4 or Hercules RMX????

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi there

I posted a topic on here about a month ago how ive been using Virtual DJ home edition for like 7months now and i love it etc and i wanted to go the next step but didnt know what to do, i was told to get a console which i can run through using VDJ, so i did some research and discussion and ive come between buying the Hurcules MK4 or the Hercules RMX. Now its clear the RMX is more complex than the MK4 so as im still a beginner shall i get the MK4 or will i be fine with the RMX.

Oh and these two consoles will run/work with VDJ home edition?

Please any opinion will be great!!

Thanks

No controllers (Hercules or other) will work with VDJ Home Edition. Only VDJ PRO Full and Virtual DJ LE (included with the controllers) support this feature.

As for which one would be better for your, it really comes down to a few factors:

- Price: what is your budget like ?

- Size and portability: Are you planning on taking it to gigs or staying in your bedroom ?

I just went through the same process is you.
I owned the Mk4 and sold it. it is a nice and tiny kit but did not leave much room for me to grow.
I also found the buttons to be very close together and I did not like the platters.
I also wanted more buttons, levers, etc.

I went with Hercules 4 MX.
I liked that it has a built in sound card. It is made of metal and the levers are sturdy.
The platters are large and touch sensitive. I really like it and I am having a lot of fun.

I added KRK Rokit 5 speakers and I really like it all together.

I was going to get a Vestex but I decided to stick with Hercules brand.
Beach Audio gave me a price I could not refuse plus overnight shipping.

****OH and you MUST upgrade to VDJ pro. It is worth it and the only way to get all the options.

I am not a pro. Just an average hobbyist and occasional small party DJ.

i own the RMX. Been using it for a few months now and I am very happy with it. It is very well built and is portable (if you plan on doing any gigs). Price wasn't too bad either, and it comes with a working version of VDJ LE. Then the upgrade to VDJ Pro is 1/2 off since you already have the LE version that comes with the controller.

rmx + 1

I own both controllers. If you are just starting out...grab the RMX.
