anyone know how i should set up my mixer for vdj?
the controller only has a usb port and an output for a monitor, so how do i connect my mixer so that vdj sees both?

cheers

First you will need the Pro version to make this possible.

Second, you will need a sound card. The SEP-C1 does not have an on-board sound card.

VDJ only needs to see the sound card and the controller, not the mixer. The sound card connects to your computer via usb, VDJ will see it. You will come out of your sound card, and into your mixer. The controller will also connect to the computer via usb, and VDJ will recognize it.

i have 2 soundcards already, one a creative usb.

i know vdj only needs to see the controller, but the problem is that it doesnt have a crossfader or EQ, hence the purchase of the mixer.

so, i guess what im really needing to know is how to connect my mixer to my sound card so that it does the job it's meant to do

You really need an Asio sound card for example the Native Instruments Audio 2 or 4, Creative ones are generally for consumer use only.

Don't know what your sound card looks like but you would come out of the card with a stereo pair to one channel of your mixer. Take another stereo pair to the other channel of the mixer. In VDJ con-fig, select 2 channel mixer in the output, and select your card in the pull-down. If you have another stereo pair you can select 3 channel mixer, and control the sample bank with that channel.

the main card is as asus xonar, unfortunately doesnt have more than 1 stereo output. and my usb is a creative x-fi pro, again, only has one output which i already use for my headphones.

looks like i may need a new soundcard?
wish i knew all this before punting my icue:(

When you get a pro sound card, come back and we will help you set it up.

looks like i'll be busy on t'ebay lol!!

cheers AM&HM:)

If you are not going to use turntables or CD players as controllers, you do not need a sound card with inputs. Also, you need to remember that you need 2 stereo outs, that means left and right to each channel on your mixer. Some of the sound cards you listed, have 2 in and 2 out. You need at least 4 out. Take a look at this. It has 8 out, which gives you 4 stereo outs. You will be able to take advantage of 4 players in VDJ.

ok, i have my soundcard, a Numark DJiO. soooooo....how to set it up, tried it myself and cant get anything to work:S

its not my version im using this setup on, its part of a mobile setup with 2 other guys who have pro

ok, i've managed to geit it so that the mixer works, but i can only get sound from headphones when i plug them into the mixer.

any got any ideas how to get sound through my original soundcard?

Youll probably have to go into advanced config and route where you want the deck to come out of on the sound card, its in the manual.

had a look at that late last night, but couldnt find anything specific to my set up, certainly nothing that we could fathom out anyways:(

ok, it seems like a difficult one to answer..how about this setup i saw on youtube:

using an audio splitter cable, connect to one channel on my mixer, then into the front output on my soundcard. another splitter to connect to channel 2 on my mixer and rear output on my card, then set up my card as a 4.1?

would this work, and also mean that i dont require the xtra soundcard?

just so you know, i have it currently set up as follows:

DJiO: output 1 - channel 1 on mixer
output 2 - channel 2 on mixer

VDJ config: inputs - none
outputs - external mixer (left deck; channels 1&2) right deck;channels 3&4)
soundcard - ASIO Numark usb audio device

I can see that my mixer reacts when music is loaded, so i know that it's getting an audio input, and if i plug my headphones into the mixer i can hear it fine, so how do i get it to actually control the music?

PLEASE....i really need some help here, cos it was my idea to go with this setup, now its looking like we've wasted £800+

if i can't get any joy with this, i'll be looking to sell the controller......decent offers welcome
