Topic: What is the best place to download tracks for free for Virtual Dj? - Page: 2

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

Ok, just wanted to give my opinion even though I am a newbie at DJing but still love to have a few cracks at it.

Tbh this forum is suppose to be DJs helping other DJs or start up DJs right? And give the guy a break.. wouldn't it be easier to just have gone...'You would have a lot more respect for buying music instead of copying it illegally' and then suggest a few sites. Just saying.

In my opinion try Spotify....you make a free account..dl there software and then you can listen to any music for 20hours a week(either that or a month...cant remember :L) and then if you like any songs (and when you saved up money) you can buy it from spotify.

Btw if anyone thinks Im someone who thinks is a DJ already, I dont. Im practicing every day...try different songs and styles....but the important thing to me is I enjoy it...my dad used to be a nightclub and radio DJ....back in the days of Vinyl...so I have some help and a good critic xD and even I enjoy my vinyl. Im using VDJ and a controller to start up..and get a little skill in DJing before going on to CDJ and vinyl DJ. Just saying. :)

And I agree with Seane23(hope I got your name right xD) give the guy a chance...and DJ overall should be a hobby more than a competition or job, right?

No - the 17 year old who rips music from YouTube.

I was just interested to know where he got his software....

oh ok....

I think that everybody has a valid point in this thread in one way or another. The professional DJ's are upset (and they have the right to be), because illegal/pirated music has made it too easy to become a DJ, and we've spent years collecting legal/promo/high quality music to perform in public, get paid, and feed our families with it. Think of music as one of the tools of the trade. If I wanted to be a mechanic, I wouldn't walk into a store and steal all the wrenches and ratchets I needed to do my job.

The newbies or hobby DJs need to gain experience and cut their teeth on something and have limited funds to get started. We were all there at one point.

The best investment you can make is to buy a subscription to a legal DJ pool, and get all the latest music month after month, year after year, and build a solid foundation for the day that someone offers you a gig. Free music is something you hear on the radio.

or from the rear end of a tricked out vauxhall corsa that goes no faster than 11mph...lol

tbh I answered...I adviced to use Spotify..I recommend it myself...listen to all their music for free for 20hours a week/month (can never remember lmao) and then if you feel you can use that song you can buy it...their prices are more or less the same as itunes and all that....worth a pop at it :)

hey bud,
what i would suggest is hook up with one of your friends and get 100 of his/her songs. start messing around with the vdj free trial prog's. it is very expensive to start from scratch. like an earlier user said, start slow, start small. it will take YEARS to build up a nice library but with a handful of songs u actually like and can relate to just start fooling around. there are MANY sites u can download from at low cost per month
(DONT EVEN TRY TO START BUYING AND D'LOADING 1 AT A TIME FROM ITUNES). I personally love the music i mixed 25 years ago so i just stick with that genre subsequently dont need 200 gigs of music. if ur trying to convert from youtube i hope u start doing some reading before u go any further 'cuz i am not sure there is a more DIFFICULT way that u are getting ur music. good luck and hope u get far enough to purchase vdj, its a great program...PEACE

I have to say it!!!

I WANT THE BITCHES!!!!!......LOL

Anyways good luck...practice practice and when you think you got it?? Practice some more!!

Well done everyone for such a vibrant discussion. Everyone has they\'re own take on the discussion but what we all have in common is a love ov music and an acceptance ov new modes ov mixing and technology.

Lets keep it that way.

Big respect to you all.

Love and Hugs.

Were I in this young man's shoes, I would be asking my parents if they wouldn't mind taking out a Premium Membership subscription for me.

This would give access to more tracks than he could possibly want, when starting, and as it's a subscription service if he decided not to pursue DJ'ing any further the subscription could be cancelled and all is well, without the "what are you going to do with all these X?"...I am certain that $9.99 is within the reach of his parents (and him, via doing chores!).

I know that had the Premium Membership system been available when I started out, I'd have used it as the first port of call.

Just my thoughts and no offence is meant to anyone.

Yeah I did see it but forgot about it... So with that being said
