Looking for a solid mid-price mixer that can sync up and work well with VDJ. I dont plan on using itch, ive had vdj for a couple years now and love it. Any input or feedback is greatly appreciated.. especially the goods and the bads of those that were already tried. Ive never mixed with a usb controller, other then using VDJ with a korg midi controller for effects and sound samples. I scratch (yes 20-25 years ago) with 12's and crates of music and looking to get that feeling back. Wanted the NS7 or mk3 1000's but couldnt pass up on the V7 pricing. Hit me back ... PEACE !

I have a pair of V7's myself. Pretty much any mixer can be used flawlessly with them. As of right now I am using my oldie but trusty 4 channel Technics mixer until Numark release the X7 which will allow you to control the video fades. If you are only doing audio, Then the Numark X5 should be a good choice. I can't believe no one has responded to your post. Hope this helps you. Have fun!

i have been looking for the x5 for a couple days, musicians friends has em for 368 but out of stock for a couple weeks. YES THE X7 is my ultimate choice as well, i actually emailed them over the weekend asking if they have a release date. Found a used x5 for sale locally and will go with that till the 7 comes out. thx for the input

I personally don't like Numark's mixers but they seem to pair up well with the V7's. Otherwise I would recommend Vestax PMC-05-PRO 4 2 Channel DJ Mixer. They have a black and red options.

back in the day, i liked the fader with a little bit of resistance. nowadays it seems everyone feels like there is nothing connected underneath. i was hoping to stay at around 500$ for a mixer. i know its a bit low for top end, and i prolly had a better shot before christmas gettin some used equipment but i would certainly spend the extra for the x7. just love the looks and the review from scaratchworx is pretty convincing.

Might be a little more but the Pioneer DJM 700 and 800 work great with vdj - you need a separate USB midi gadget but they arent expensive.

For the current mixer I am using, "Technics 4 Channel MZ 1200", I hook it up like this: Usb link my left deck to my pc & ether link my right deck to the left. After that you will be all set. Make sure that the "MASTER" light is off on your right deck also! I would think The Numark X5 may have a different setup though. I just took a look at the X5 on the Numark sight. The mixer doesn't have any USB ports. So you would hook it up the same way as I have mine.

lol, just looked at the back of the mixer - the guy gave me a usb cord so i just assumed it went with it. there is a link n the downloads section which shows hooking it up.. s'pose to pick up v7's tomorrow. such a great deal they put out ($299 w a free ata case) still amazed

$299 ea including a case is absolutely ridiculous.... I think you got the bargain of 2010!

picked em up today from 123dj.. sitting in the garage right now. prolly wont set them up til saturday (kinda need a time to bring them in the house when the wifey isnt around) numark ran the offer for a month 200$ cash back and free ata case. 123 had em' for 499$. i found the rebates 20 minutes before it was over on 1/1. had to jump on it. i have a korg nano that i was using for alot of controls and effects before i got the mixer and v7's, will prolly try and reincorporate back into my setup. ITS FANTASTIC and super simple

WELL I LOVE the V7's.. They are frikkin sweet... the best part about them i would say is the looping and cue'ing setups that go with it. having some probs with the X5 and VDJ. (the X7 is but again still not out) I should start by saying everything works perfectly with itch, but been with vdj for many years for video and karaoke - so i will fight thru the process to get it up n running how i'de like it. Apparently the x5 is NOT a midi controller which unfortunately is a problem for vdj. ive tried a few ways to setup the tables and mixer and still not getting complete control over the mixer where it mirrors on screen vdj. another bad point (as of now) my main sound is coming out laptop rather then thru mixer. (again, comes out with itch no problem). i will continue to mess around with it, do some research and or maybe see if numark's tech support has a suggestion on the setup. if theres anyone using an X5 please free to chime in with any input.. thnx

You need to go to the config settings and select external 2 channel mixer. Then select the asio driver.

thnx for the tip.. i will tell u 2 things i absolutely love about vdj, and remarkably simple. first, u can setup the headphones to have channel 1 on the left and channel 2 on the right (something u cant do with the x5 - it uses a cue fader)kind of a pain in the arse.Just another knob to be futzing with ALL the time Secondly is the syncing. Vdj will actually sync to a beat where itch will sync only to speed and u have to manually / and hope ur accurate at the first intro.

Hercules RMX & V7's rockin video.

WELL, IMO the x5 is not the best unit to go with VDJ. U lose a few nice features in the looping, the fader and volume knobs/buttons/sliders to react to the same position on screen as on unit and im stuck using the headphones with both decks in my ears simultaneously (or use the headphone cue). The one thing i do like, is with active hot cueing you can continue playing the song from a stand still unlike itch where u would have to hit play before the hot cue or it will only play as long as you hold it. It does work great in inch as numark intended. i am hoping for soon release of the x7 and hoping there is better compatibility with vdj. Prolly wont get another mixer until then so im gonna have to be a little disappointed until that time.

Hey guys,
I know this might not help a lot but was looking at the numark website, went to Computer DJ/VJ section and the X5 mixer doesnt seem to come up on that category...might be why you might be having some problems. Jus thinking :/
And I must say the the V7s look and sound like from the demos and reviews as a thing of beauty :DD
